I remember that play.....but only a couple of years after that, he couldn't do that again.

There's something to be said for youth.

To be real honest, with the angle, Aikman ran him down as well and he was not very fast.

To be honest though, it was impressive to see him running like that....also, Aikman was younger back then as well.

I'm not diggin for my 1989 Ourlad's guide, but i'd be willing to bet Aikman's 40 time was real close to Larry's. But sure, it's crazy to see a guy run like that at 325. Makes ya wonder how he could have had a 5.11 40 because he looks like a 4.9 guy in that replay and prolly was with the adrenalin.

after watching that play, I do have one question....

Why did LA have such a big problem with Parcells' running drills?

they should have come easy for him....

BTW, I preferred the other double star jerseys...the ones with white sleeves and white stars on the shoulders more than those double star jerseys...

He was old by then and it seems like always came to camp a bit out of shape in his later days.

I was assuming that playing in the trenches of the NFL would do that to a person after about nine years. I think that was how long Larry played before BP came to town. Wear and tear on the body happens.

Great point! It doesn't get much worse than those jack-stars--so just be glad our ugliest jersey looks as good as it does. It's like saying that your buddy's wife is the ugliest wife of all your friends (and she is Milla Jovovich)

Aikman was a pretty good athlete when he came out of college. His rookie year he was a very good scrambler (he had to be to survive!). I wouldn't underestimate his speed, he was a LOT faster than the linemen.

Troy was a 5 second 40 guy. Like i said, slow for a guy 225 lbs.

Just bought a new home 250 miles from me and i close in 2 weeks and am knee deep in moving. It's hell. I just ran across a handful of guides and the 1994 Larry Allen was one. Don't have a clue where my 1989 guide is at this point but i know enough about Troy to know he wasn't a lot fatser than the OLman in that draft. Then again, most QBs are 4.9 to 5.0+ guys every year and if you are a draftnik and know what you're talking about you know this MAN;)

I remember watching that one at a bar. I was drinking scotch and soda and having nachos with my future wife.

That play reminds me of a play by William Perry back at Clemson in the early eighties when he ran down a running back (Wake Forest I think) from behind.

Did you get that from somewhere or is it just what you believe? I couldn't find anything on what his 40 time was so if you have a source it would be nice.
