Yeah. I didn't realize that was grounds for attempted murder. I gather he was the aggressor, originally. Or at least I hope so. It would kind of stink to lose everything because you got jumped in a parking lot by someone and you were able to beat them up.

Obviously, a bad situation for all involved. I hope the guy pulls through and this one gets a happier ending.
