Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren confirmed that Maurice Morris will start in Week 1 over Julius Jones.

Holmgren said the backfield rotation will start out with Morris going first, then he'll see how it plays out from there. Whichever back plays better against Buffalo this week could wind up starting in Week 2 against the 49ers.

Wow! How bad is Julius Jones? Did't Seattle pay him very good money to be a starter?

I think he is very average.....slightly better than Troy Hambrick.

Ouch! That's not good. Just think, if Parcells wasn't an ego freak, we would of had Stephen Jackson.

I actualy like Maurice Morris, he alway impressed me when I watched Seattle.

Its not like Jones is a scrub though. Duckett should be a non factor, so JJ could still get 10 carries a game

Then we wouldn't have had Ware since Parcells wanted to draft Spears over him.

We also wouldn't have drafted Barber.

I think things turned out fine.

It all ended up working out just fine. I would much rather have Ware, who is probably the best player from that draft, and Barber over Stephen Jackson. Being able to laugh at Jones is just a bonus.:D

Im sorry...change of scenery does not change lack of vision and cutback. Good luck JJ & good riddance.

honestly, as a reserve RB.....I have to give the nod to Hamhock....as much as I hate him, he was a beast in reserve of Emmitt. Hamhock was a perfect compliment to Emmitt and ran hard and with attitude and cockiness.

JJ runs like he just drank an entire bottle of NyQuil.

Hambrick did play the role of backup better than Julius.

I always felt Julius got less effective as he got fewer carries. The one thing I thought that made his reemergence possible in Seattle was the notion that he'd go back to being a 20-carry-a-game back. I thought maybe, just maybe getting the bulk of the carries would rejuvenate him. But then he hasn't shown he's worthy of that role, either.

But if I'm a Seattle fan, I'm not liking the idea of Julius getting 7-10 carries a game. I think he's shown that's when he's absolutely at his worst. Which is why he was so expendable here. A backup that can't play well in a reserve role isn't very valuable.

I have to agree.

Two different situations though. I think Julius went Bledsoe on us...T-ham was trying to take Emmitts job, Julius lost his job and pouted.

maybe JJ can return kicks for Seattle.....if so it might make him a more effective weapon on offense, it might help him get into the game groove easier.

I can picture it now...Jones jukes left, then right, he's out in the empty field. The TD is his...BAM..smacks into the backside of the kicker...
