Former Cowboy Rob Petitti was just signed by the Carolina Panthers to replace RT Jeff Otah who was put on IR.

I hope he can get it together and play well for them (he probably won't play this week anyway though). I liked him when he was here and had hopes for him.

I just saw that too. I really thought Petitti was going to work out here and at least be a servicable investment. Best of luck to him at CAR

I liked Petitti but he really didn't get a fair shake here being throw into the mix with questionable NFL skills.

If the Miami Dolphins are Cowboys East, are the Carolina Panthers now Cowboys Practice Squad East?

What did Parcell's say? I won't let you fail. LOL.

Having his father on board was the biggest hookup.Pittdawg??? Amazing a few more Cowboys or relatives don't post on here.

Most def. wish Rob all the luck.

He was thrown to the wolves as a rookie, and I wish him success for him whatever team he's on.

Several players have family here. None of them are regular posters and I discourage it.

I'm not.. arguing with people who are often as upset as they can be over a football game on the internet about people you love is not a good combination. It can get personal, fast - and peoples feelings can be hurt, fast. I know I've said a dumb thing or two in my life when my feelings were personally hurt.

I'd agree with Hos; they probably just lurk, which is fine. And in that case, hello to you.

He didn't get a fair shake?

He was awful. He and the other guy (Torin Tucker?) formed the worst tackle tandem in the league.

Basically it was all about footwork and Petitti had lousy footwork and did not seem to be able to improve. It would be interesting to see if he has gotten better (maybe he took dancing lessons).

Grand. There goes any shot that Carolina had at beating the Giants this week.

This guy makes Proctor look decent.

It didn't help he was playing a new position he'd never played before and was hurt. However that doesn't excuse him not getting better over the off season. I was rooting for him but didn't shed a tear when he was cut.

Actually, considering Petitti was a rookie, I'd say he was much better than Proctor. Rob only gave up sacks in about half his games as a starter and the ones he did give up were to some of the better passrushers. He really wasn't as bad as most people here thought he was.

He did have a lot to work on but then most 6th round picks do, that's why they don't go earlier than that. He was also blocking for Drew Deadslow who was sacked 49 times that year so it wasn't like Petitti was the only guy letting defenders through.

His footwork was a problem and he was likely never going to be a great player but he could have been a decent backup, certainly no worse than McQuistan has been for us.

Rob was decent until late in the season when he got injuries. BUT I think a lot of that was that since Tucker was at LT and even worse most teams went that way. The fact that he basically has not played in the NFL since says a lot as well.

Yeah he only gave up sacks to perennial all pros like Phillip Daniels, etc. Guy is a bum and would make any QB look bad. There's a reason he's been out of the league for awhile. Carolina must be REALLY desperate.
