I thought about him the other day. We had him and he was a beast in preseason. Watched him play for us in a preseason game, 3 straight downs 2 sacks and knocked a pass down. He had the potential to be like Irvin. He should have taken over Spencer’s spot perhaps. They tried to slip him on the practice squad and the saints grabbed him. He didn’t really fit there scheme. Ended up over there.
Poor lateral agility. That's why he doesn't consistently produce. Has great burst, so he'll get the edge sometimes, and he'll get schemed w/ an open run at the QB sometimes, but he's not going to consistently beat NFL blockers. That's why he's in the CFL.

If Manziel plays I might have to watch a few games. He would probably get a few Aggie viewers.

Pretty much a sawed off shot gun. But he could take over a play or series. Could have been cheap to keep. If opposing teams schemed him that much when he was in the lineup then the LB should have been able to clean it up.

No, not that other teams had to scheme against him, the DC had to scheme to get him an open run. He doesn't have the physical ability to get past the blockers himself w/ any consistency.

Not a bad rotational player, just no upside.

Seems odd that they could own his rights to play in another league
I see they could own your rights to play in the CFL but not sure a contract with a CFL team would bar you from playing in all leagues in the world

What an asinine thought. Everyone has clearly forgotten how players in the early 70s had to have other jobs to make ends meet. Not only were meals not provided, but neither was transportation and gear in some cases.

The amenities matches the league cap. If you look at the salary cap the CFL has it becomes abundantly clear the difference in the league.

If Butler and other American players want the amenities they know what to do. If you can't win a job in the NFL you have no one else to blame but yourself.

The American linebacker and CFL All-Star has criticized the Toronto Argonauts management for denying him the opportunity to pursue opportunities in the NFL.

Don't sign a contract, or provide for that contingency in your contract or shut up.

Uuhhmm...Butler is an idiot.

He signed a contract and now he doesn't like it.

If you think it is an American vs a Canadian thing you are sadly wrong.

The highest paid players in the league are American. If he wants to get paid he has to perform. The rest of the American player playing in the league shut him down.

As for the decrepit conditions in the CFL there are some extremely well taken care of facilities north of the 49th. In my neck of the woods there is a brand new stadium built by the same firm who built AT&T stadium and they patterned it after Invesco Field to create crowd noise at the 50 yard line.
In Winnipeg we also have a new stadium and the players are treated very well here. The CFL is not in terrible shape they are set to expand by one team in the next few years. Players of Butlers talent might only make 60-70 per season he must have known when he signed. The XFL starting up will hurt the CFL
