Former NFL Player Lawrence Phillips Charged With Murder

Back in April, we told you about how former NFL player Lawrence Phillips—who is currently serving a 31-year prison sentence for assaulting his ex-girlfriend and running over a group of teenagers with his car—was suspected of strangling his prison cellmate to death. Prison officials launched an investigation after Phillips' cellmate Damion Soward was found dead at Kern Valley State Prison.

Now, Phillips has formally been charged with first-degree murder for allegedly killing Soward. He is reportedly not going to face the death penalty, but he could obviously face life in prison if he is found guilty of killing Soward.

For those who don't remember, Phillips, now 40, spent time playing for the Rams, Dolphins, and 49ers after a memorable college career at Nebraska. Stay tuned to see what happens during his murder trial.

Believe it or not, after the 49ers picked up this POS their fans still tried to tell me how they were still more classy than the Cowboys, because we had Irvin. Look at where both of them are now. Yes, I'm from the Bay Area. Born in Santa Clara, 49er land, USA. God, I hate that team.

First off, I do NOT condone what he did nor am I a supporter of Lawrence Phillips the person. Now that that's out of the way...

What a damn shame from a football standpoint. Been a Nebraska fan my entire life, and out of all the great backs that came out of this program, he by far had the most talent/skills out of all of them. IMO If you read about his past, how he grew up, etc., you'll understand why he is where he is at and where he deserves to be. He should have been under a doctor's supervision from a very early age. Too many mental disorders to list from what I read. Surprisingly, he is extremely smart. What a damn shame.
