Former Notre Dame QB Everett Golson can't just transfer anywhere, sources say

If former Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson wants to play for Texas or in the Southeastern Conference this fall, he may find his path blocked -- or at least a bit rocky.

As a graduate transfer, Golson will be immediately eligible to play for his new school, but that doesn't necessarily mean he is free to go any program at the FBS level.

Notre Dame didn't give Golson a release to any school it will play in 2015, which includes Texas, and also would block some Big Ten programs, a source confirmed to FOX Sports Sunday.

In addition, two SEC rules potentially could make Golson ineligible to play in the conference, one SEC compliance official said.

Texas and the SEC's Georgia and LSU are among the schools rumored to be in the running for Golson.

However, a report that stated Golson, a Myrtle Beach, S.C., native, was expected to visit South Carolina Monday is inaccurate, the source told FOX Sports.

Gunner Kiel, should of never left Notre Dame, he could of been starting, since this idiot got suspended a couple years ago.

He would have more heat playing for FSU in 2015 than he would staying at ND.

You do not know what you are talking about. QB at ND is the absolute toughest position in College Football. You get hit from all sides 24/7/365

Some can take it and some can't. EG folded.

ND shouldn't have any say at where he can go. It's his life, not theirs. BLEEP ND

FSU will be competing for a National Championship in 2015. Notre Dame not so much.

Also, he joined ND in 2011. He has been there 3 of the past 4 seasons. Even after sitting out 2013 he came back in 2014. Nothing points to him not being able to take the heat. If he couldn't he would have left years ago or never came back after 2013.

as usual you speak about what you know little about. He was under tremendous pressure due to all the turnovers last year. Just could not take it anymore. And have to laugh at your idea that FSU will be competing for a NC in 2015 while ND won't. But then FSU homers are fun to read.

I know plenty. I'm not a fan of FSU. They are a better program than ND right now and have more of a chance than the Irish in 2015. Homer would apply to you if you think ND will be in the mix for a title this season. You threw out a stupid statement about the heat and the kitchen. Golson will be facing more pressure playing for a title contender than playing for a team that won't be in 2015. It is not that complicated.

The young man is about to graduate from ND. Doesn't sound like a guy who couldn't handle pressure.

The rule is intended to be for a player to transfer to a school that has a graduate program not offered at his original school.

I would be very interested to hear what Florida State offers that Notre Dame does not.
