Goes to show you never know how someone really is based on TV. He seems like a nice guy.

Pensacola has two big named sports stars. Emmitt Smith and Roy Jones Jr. They also have Fred Robbins to a lesser degree.

Between Emmitt and Roy it's like polar opposites with regard to how they view the city of Pcola. Emmitt isn't viewed in a very good light. Normally if a Cowboys conversation with someone leads to Emmitt Smith I receive negative feedback while Roy is revered for the way he embraces the city and interacts with everyday people.

it explains why he went on TV despite being a huge moron

most egomaniacs are oblivious to their own weaknesses

Yes they are, but I don't see how he can be oblivious to that.

Several of the all-time great RBs have arrogance. You've got to be put together a little differently to have the mental toughness it takes to do what they do.

reading the blurb about Kevin Smith, Orlando Scandrick may be the closest thing Dallas has to that, around the same size, great speed, but w/o the mouth

Kevin Smith, great talent with some unfortunate injuries.

He was one of the most underrated players on our dynasty. Still is.

Babe Laufenberg

Cowboys quarterback, 1989-90
Career Stats: click here

Breakdown: An extraordinarily bad NFL quarterback who was forced to replace an injured Troy Aikman for the final two games of the 1990 season. Dallas needed one victory to wrap up a playoff appearance—and the (un)mighty Babe struck out, putting up two stinkers.

That Kevin Smith response to Charles Haley is classic! :lmao2:

Yeah. If you liked that I'd suggest buying Pearlman's book.

He is a little slanted towards Emmitt and a few others, his bias is obvious so you can breeze through those parts. Other than that it was a really good read you'll probably finish in a day.

The Jimmy stories I thought were the best. Poor Robert Smith.

That and Nate's comments on his weight clause were my favorite parts. :laugh2:

Good stuff on what a good athlete Novacek was, too -- of course he made the Olympic Trials as a decathlete.

Funny to hear Herschel Walker, one of the biggest athletic freaks ever, described as "unathletic", though.

it's not that funny considering how muscular the guy was, it's hard to be a fluid athlete when you're so thick

Man, that was a team with one goal, kick that other team's A**!! Every single one of them ate up Jimmy's words_Irvin was the epitome of everything Jimmy preached.

They not only talked and strutted, they backed it up with their play. That kind of dominance started from the top and touched EVERY SINGLE PLAYER.

Even the classy Hennings has always said, Jimmy made them believe that they were the best, that they would whip each and every opponent. There were no excuses on that team, everyone was accountable, if they screwed up they would PAY, and pay all week. Next game, they would then take it out on the opposing team.

Scandrick isnt close to Kevin Smith pre-achilles injury right now. he may be eventually, but Smith had better instincts for the ball by far.

Emmitt has always been my favorite player....what a jerk, though.

Charles Haley is a nut, I listened to Pearlman on the Jim Rome show, and his stories about haley were funny but frightening at the same time.

With all the distractions surrounding those SB teams, it just shows you how much more talented those Dallas teams were than the rest of the league.

All the crap that was going on back then just shows you how the new generation of players lack focus and determination.

Edit:

Tony Casillas had a belly button ring? Never heard that. Weird.

I laughed for five minutes at Nate Newton having a candy bar in his uniform.
