Darius Stills, West Virginia

Why? Stills is a bowling ball of butcher knives. Dude explodes off the snap, and then has good lateral agility and the ability to get skinny to slip through blocks. Also shows impressive leg drive on the bull rush, as well as the girth to anchor.

Drawbacks: Just one, he's 6-1/285, considered short. However that build also points toward success w/ leverage.

Comparison: Jurrell Casey.

We desperately need this type up front. Where do we need to take him? 3rd round at the latest. IMO, the 2nd round would not be a reach, as this type of disruptor is always hard to find. Will he work out? He's a prospect. All prospects can fail, but all signs point up for this cat. I'm afraid he's going to draw attention and go late 2nd/early 3rd. At the very least, he should be a quality rotational player. Ceiling is a Jurrell Casey type.

Player I had kind of wondered about. Couple articles after the season saying he could be a late 2nd early 3rd pick, then nothing. He’d make a nice pass rush specialist from the 3tech position on 3rd down! Marrinelli special lol!

I think there are some similarities to Gallimore. He would be a good peice too add, those are good types to have inside. If we are leaving this draft with one DT, Id prefer a more rounded player though

I like him there. I don't think he is as good a prospect as Tuefle, and doesnt have McNeil's upside but he is quality 600 snap a season guy at 1T
McNeil is the DT I hope the Cowboys target during the 2nd round, especially if they trade down in the 1st round and pick up an extra 2nd rounder. I can see McNeil being a monster disrupted at the 1-tech with both Trysten Hill and Gallimore alternating duties at the 3-tech.

I like several of these DT's this year. I lean hard towards the 1T vs the 3T. I would seriously consider double dipping.
I'd want Baramore, if available, or McNeil at 44. I'd be fine with Nixon, Onwuzurike or Tufele at 44 too.
My mid range, 3-4 rd guys are Shelvin, Tioga and Tuipuluto.
Later rd guys, 5th-7th, for me are Slayton, Wilson, Stills and Tonga is my sleeper that can be a gem of a late rd pick.

In general I prefer bigger linemen since they tend to hold up better vs the run. But if he is there mid round, sure maybe.

I like Tedarrell Slayton(6-5,350) DT Florida big space eater can take on double teams and wins. Big man who can move and light on his feet. Let Gallimore be the RDT and Slayton anchors at LDT and can also rush the passer when needed.

Slayton will never be more than a 2 down guy. Guys like Slayton play 25% of a teams snaps. Even if you are strickly a 1T, you have to be able to get upfield to get on the field to defend the pass. Thats not Slayton. Im not really interested in a guy like that unless he is a really late round guy

Remember when Sam Adams,Tony Siragusa clogged the middle for the Ravens?. They were immovable objects. Stuff the run and can also push the pocket.

That was a completely different era. NFL offenses aren't run based anymore. A big DT in today's NFL cant just occupy blockers and push the pocket and remain on the field a majority. You need to be able to get upfield too. The big DT's that play 60 to 70 of snaps can do that. Guys like Vea, Payne, Tomlinson, Hankins and Harrison in his prime can do that. Slayton can, he is just a block occupier. Those guys play about 25% of snaps in todays NFL

You say different era then you mention guys the same size of Slayton like Vea and company. Slayton looks good to me. Others like Quinnen Williams,Dexter Lawrence,Linval Joseph, etc. We need a Earth Mover like Slayton. Gallimore needs to be freed up with his 4.8 speed in one on one matches instead of being the LT anchor. So get a guy who needs double teaming to free up Gallimore. Slayton if he needs a breather that's why we have depth like Trysten Hill could make a good 3rd down pass rush DT specialist in rotation

Size and ability are different. Those guys are big DT's that can move uphill. Slayton is not. Slayton is just a space eater, and in today's NFL that has no value in the passing game

He gets upfield in his highlights.

Look at Slayton's speed when he got the fumble in the highlights. Guys around him and he ran 20 yards at 350 and looks pretty fast.

Everyone gets upfield in highlights lol

If you want a bigger DT that can play 3 downs in the NFL, look at guys like Tuefele and McNeil. Those are three down 1T's. Slaton is a nice role player to add, but thats the type of guy you draft in the 6th or 7th

Slayton is bigger and taller. He is a Mountain.
Tufele they say struggles vs the run and Alim McNeill is 6-1 with shorter arms most likely. 6-1 320 vs 6-5, 350. I want a big space eater. Gallimore needs to become the RDT is what I pushing for.
