1. Scoreboard height. Fox 4 reports it can be moved 25 feet higher. Mickey and others say it will be moved that high for the U2 concert (their massive stage requires it, a poster said somewhere), but that's AFTER the first two regular season Cowboys games. Jerry is defensive tonight that he's in compliance with league rules: roofs/scoreboards must be no less than 90 feet above the field and that it is, and he has no plans to move it up. ... But if he could move it 25 feet higher, why wouldn't he? It was kinda embarassing tonight, no? ... A poster on DMN sez he's an engineer and that the wench deal that would move it up and down hasn't been installed yet, and that it's too low right now by mistake, it should have been put higher in advance of the elevator that could move it down a little eventually. ...

I wonder if it would ruin the optimal sightlines somehow for the video/scoreboard, and that's why Jerry will only move it up for the U2 concert (and other events when it's absolutely necessary for more than 90-foot clearance .. boy *** would they be?) ... yet Jerry will not keep it up higher for Cowboys games. (??)

2. If Octavian and Matt Stewart are really running second team OLBs per DMN's Tim MacMahon ... then we put Brandon Williams on PUP and try to stash Victor Butler on the practice squad? OK, if not Butler, then stash Stephen Hodge on the practice squad? .. Only Jason Williams as far as rookie LBs is looking like a guy that is ready to play a little on D if needed. The other guys haven't done much on special teams either yet. Looks like at least two of our rookie LB picks will have to step up, or else face waivers/practice squad. DeAngelo Smith got four tackles tonight but was he impressive, he wasn't in training camp (I haven't looked at TIVO yet)? ... Mickens and M. Hamlin were MIA. ... Man I had high hopes for the 7 defensive rooks, but looks like a number of them are going to be casualties.

3. That screen thing in front of the stadium, is that going to be a digital picture frame for Jerry's vacation shots, or what? ... Will somebody ever throw some kind of video on it for our edification? ... It's huge and impressive if someone will ever turn it on.

4. There's the Dawg Pound in Cle. ... Any nicknames for the party pass people? ... Will the Cowboys allow signage? ... Sure these people are going to be a focus of the cameras on game day either way ...

Jerry has to move the scoreboard up or he will be the laughing stock in the country....spend over a billion dollars and it isn't enough to get the scoreboard out of the way.

I was shocked to see that this is an issue....how many people involved and something this simple is a problem....and bad image.:mad:

I get it. If McBriar is punting, you lift the scoreboard (shouldn't take what, 30 seconds to move it up the 25 feet?). Otherwise keep it at 90 feet for the other punter - he has to hit a line drive and you get better returns.

Not a bad homefield advantage. There's no NFL rule that says Jerry can't do this, and he's on the competition committee, so he can grandfather the scheme in!

As I understand it, if you hit the scoreboard it is a dead play. Could a team without time-outs at the end of a game intentionally throw the ball at the scoreboard to stop the clock? Essentially getting a free down.

Wouldn't it be hilarious if they signaled the start of the party by having "mooing" sounds over the loud speakers. Especially on Ladies Night. :laugh2:

You want to lift 1.2 Million pounds, 25 feet, in 30 seconds?
:laugh2::laugh1:

Aw, man, you made the milk come out my nose. There are cranes that could do it, but you sure wouldn't want to when the object at the end of the rigging is worth $50,000,000.

Their punter was intentionally trying to hit it and thats fine because thats going to result in alot of very short punts headed our way. A punter doing his normal thing will not hit the board. You could tell by the punter's reaction after he did it that he was relieved that it actually hit the board and that the officials called it because he knew it would have been a short punt. I'm with Jerry, it meets league rules and let it get into the heads of the other teams punters. As long as McBriar has no problems with, I say leave it right where its at.

That's all fine and great but I can guarantee before a Super Bowl is played in that stadium the commish makes him raise it up. It's not something anyone in the league would want playing into such a big game.

This is turning out to be a very interesting battle. Williams to DL for a year to improve physically is looking like a strong possibility. I don't think either Butler or Williams would make it to the practice squad. Hodge seemed to be all over the place on kicks. I thought he look great for special teams. Octavien and Stewart both made plays tonight. I'll be interesting to see how it all play out.

Why the heck not? The refs don't mind having a say so in every Steelers superbowl and that hasn't changed yet.
