I heard two of the analysts talking this last week about A Chicago Bears game. It was toward the end of the game and Chicago needed a first down to either seal the game or get within field goal range to win or tie. I didn't pay much attention, no matter the circumstance, this is what they said.
"Chicago didn't trust Trubisky enough to throw on that play and therefore ran the ball on 3rd and 7."
I hate to think someone either didn't trust Dak to throw the game tying pass at that point.
But what I do know is Dallas just repeated the Barry Switzer gaff that won him the Darwin Award for being completely brain dead on the 4th and one he ran twice.
They took the ball out of the hands of Dak twice. Then ran a play doomed for failure with the pass to the flat.
This game was lost for a couple of reasons.
First, the Vikings sold out to stop Zeke. If you think that is incorrect and this was Zeke's fault, then explain how he had three straight games of over 100 yards, yet couldn't get going against Minnesota. Even the announcers talked about how Zimmer told his DB's he was putting the focus on stopping Zeke. They talked about this the entire game.
Dallas took poor angles and didn't wrap up tackling.
Dallas started cold, which is now beginning to be a usual thing for them. They spotted the Vikings 14 points before this offense got to ginning.
Coaching decisions.
Three of the four issues which led to the loss fall under the leadership of Jason Garrett. As the season moves along, Garrett continues to make a case for a coaching change at the end of the year.
