Yea! that's wierd, but it's not bothering me. Yet.

It looks real grainy to me. The CBS broadcast is 100x better. (By the way, I'm getting the wonderful Texans and Saints game..:bang2: )

Does it look bad for anyone else?

Yeah, the Fox broadcast does not look like real HD. Either its heavily processed or there is some upconversion going on. The CBS broadcast looks better although it has alot of compression artifacts :/ I like HD but sports has TOO %#@ much compression going on.

Has anyone watched OTA hd sports? I hear OTA didnt have as much compression goin on. Is it noticeable?

I think the Texans-Saints broadcast is not in HD, even though you can watch it in HD. That's why it's not coming in clear.

I've read that not all games are presented in HD.

Fox HD looks good here. Unfortunately in Portland, OR, we do not get CBS HD on Direct TV.

Well normally the boxes show up on the side when not in HD. I guess they've started upscalling their normal broadcast to stretch it and fill the screen:confused:

I was just referring to why the HD broadcast is sucky. Not all games are presented in HD. Regarding Fox, I've seen better HD broadcasts. CBS is pretty great.

Like others said, the bar is a little too low on the screen.

Fox does HD in 720p and CBS does it in 1080i.They both look good to me as long as it's HD.

The game that I have (tex. vs Aints), can't be in HD...it looks really blurry

The Texans/Saints game is upscaled...not real HD.

The NO-HOU game is in hd(my tv is 1080i), its the cbs station that usually doesn't show HOU in hd. It also looks great OTA, so its either Dtv is getting a bad signal or they are compressing it too much or something.

I also see the space above the bar.

Well i'm with crap warner, (tv is 1080p, but all TW can do is 1080i), but it's def. upscaled...not HD

Its crapwarner then. If you can receive OTA, its really the best way to go to get true hdtv.

I've got DTV and the HD package, and the game is not in HD.

If you go to nfl.com, you can see which games are broadcast in HD and the Texans aren't.

It's a better pic than the standard 480, but it's definitely not 720p or 1080i.

Why on earth aren't all games broadcast in HD? Seriously, are they that cheap?

I read an article about it awhile back, but maybe it's for cost reasons. Big game, then you get HD quality. Sucky game, standard quality.

Woodysgirl the game was listed as not HD.The game started not in HD but FOX must have flipped a switch because it is now in HD.
