Although the Dallas Cowboys' offensive linemen aren't interested in discussing it, there is a lot of offseason chatter about them being the best unit in the NFL. According to Philadelphia Eagles all-pro left tackle Jason Peters, the Eagles' offensive line is simply a better unit overall. According to Peters, 2014's leading rusher DeMarco Murray will find no trouble repeating his success behind the Eagles' line.

"[Murray] was the rushing champ last year," Peters said, per Chris McPherson of Eagles.com. "He almost broke the record. For him to come here and not duplicate that, that would discredit us a little bit with the Dallas offensive line. We've got to make sure he gets his yards. That's a big challenge. The Dallas offensive line is good. We're just better. We're going to make sure he gets his yards."

Peters' comments came earlier this week before the Eagles decided to release all-pro left guard Evan Mathis. With Mathis on the roster in 2014, Peters was technically correct in his assessment of the two offensive lines, according to Pro Football Focus. Per PFF, while the Cowboys' offensive line finished as the second-best unit in run blocking, the Eagles were the best. There was also a major gap in their run blocking grades from the Eagles' unit to the Cowboys' unit.

Peters' comments are sure to stir up some commotion in the Cowboys' locker room. When the Eagles and Cowboys match up for their first of two meetings during the regular season, you can be sure that the Cowboys will use these comments as bulletin board material.

Giants? WHY?

Exactly.

Dez = ODB
Williams > Cruz (coming off an injury)
Witten > whoever the Giants have at tight end
Romo > Eli
Vereen, Jennings, Williams > Randle, McFadden, Williams
Cowboys offensive line > Giants offensive line

Also, I wouldn't rank Indy No. 2 based on their acquisition of Andre Johnson and Frank Gore - two player past their prime. Are you kidding me?
However, I will say that excerpt about the Colts crushes this silly notion by some Cowboys fans that Luck is overrated. Pulease. He was the Indianapolis Colts offense, which got really minimal help from the running game and nothing out of the receiving corp beyond Hilton. I just don't think Johnson and Gore are enough to catapult them to No. 2.

ODB hype.

I must admit I was impressed with ODB's finger-tip catch. But good grief, enough with the hype. It's like the Clowney hit of the Michigan running back. That play set his entire college career even though he went on to do nothing else. Similarly, the finger-tip catch has elevated ODB to the level of franchise quarterback.

He plays receiver. And if Eli is on his butt, he aint making spectacular catches. Besides, we've got Dez. Last time I checked, he makes spectacular catches too.

I would alter a few things here. Mostly because of the Offensive line.
And in full agreement on the Colts.

Vereen, Jennings, Williams = Randle, McFadden, Williams
Cowboys offensive line >>> Giants offensive line

I was actually thinking about going the >>> with the Cowboys offensive line.

And I was thinking about inserting the equal sign with the running backs too. The only reason I give the Giants the slight edge is because Vereen doesn't come to the Giants with the injury history that McFadden comes to the Cowboys with. But I can see where you'd going with your observation, and I don't entirely disagree. :)

Translation: Whoever is running the ball when we play the Eagles will get about 200 yards. :)

Oh, and Murray getting 1,800 plus yards with the Eagles?:lmao::lmao2::laugh::lmao::lmao2::laugh::lmao::lmao2:

The media clamoring to say the Cowboys are regressing that far this year is starting to just get kind of hilarious

It passed hilarious a few weeks ago and went straight into cookoo land. But what really gets me are the Cowboy fans who think the same way. Yes they are out there.

Maybe - just Maybe....
Chip Kelly wants to more smash mouth the defenders and this is the way to go. Try to slow them down a bit with the fast paced offense he has.
Where Murry and the other runners now on their roster can do this.
McCoy was always looking to take it to the house.
Hit hold block for Murry and he will blast it in.
McCoy would be all over the place in where he would run.
Just thinking. But with the restructure of their O line..... I always think you need a lot of cohesion on the line and that takes time.

Total yardage rears its ugly, empty head again.

We were actually the league's #2 offense, behind only the Packers in points per drive.

Ppd is a much better indicator. Not sure why it's not brought up more honestly. Ppd and red zone TD % are some of the most telling stats of how good an offense is imo.

Agree with you. What the heck?

Don't sleep on those pesky Giants, the WR corps could be special, and that RB group will be tough to deal with....only real question is the OL. Dallas needs TWILL to elevate his play and hope and pray a Blue Chip RB emerges from the ruble... its all looks good on paper right now,,,, but the rubber will meet the road on opening day, Sept 13...

Points per drive absolutely. Red zone TD % can be misleading though. Dallas was #2 in 2014 behind only...the Raiders.

They had 20 TD on 29 red zone drives, we had 33 TD on 50.

The Giants remind me of the 2007 Cowboys in comparison to where we are now. The Cowboys had the skilled positions (TO, Marion Barber, Felix Jones, Witten and Romo) but didn't have the offensive line nor the defensive line to match them when it counted. The Cowboys 2007 offensive skilled positions were better than the Giants 2007 skilled positions.

Fast forward 2015. Our skilled players are better than theirs with, maybe, the exception at running back and our offensive line is wwwaaayyy better than the Giants. And I would say on paper, our defense is better than theirs.

I just don't see them edging us out at the end. We still take the division.

Let's be fair, the guy was amazing last year, even without the fingertip catch. I get what you're saying, but he tore it up, man.

Everyone always talks about the O-line as being the reason why Murray had so much success last year but in all honesty the Eagles are just as good and some may argue better at run blocking. The line was a huge factor of course but I think the treat of Romo and Dez also contributed to Murray's success. You wanna stack the box and stop the run? no problem. Romo and Dez will eat up that single coverage all day. Ok so now you wanna drop back and play the pass because you've been getting beat through the air all day? Here you go Murray expose that nickle defense. That's why I personally think Demarco isn't going to have anywhere near the production he had last year. No one fears that passing attack enough to back off and give Murray the lanes he had here.

Eagles are good at run blocking, but also to me benefit from the quick cut ability of McCoy and Sproles...
