I agree with the notion that ones culture can affect who you are. Not groundbreaking. However, we can't use culture as an excuse for bad behavior.

There are rules in life just as there are on the gridiron.

Exactly, but right now culture is being used as an excuse for bad behavior, or at least as a rationalization for it.

If its bad for one person to say it, it should be bad for everyone to say it.

Just another screwed up article in Jason Whitlick's career that's meant to be controversial and get a rise out of people. A friend of mine is always emailing me his latest "did you read this yet?" column. Moving on ...

You get one NFL Truth today. Watching Chad Johnson and Larry Johnson undermine their respective head coaches, Marvin Lewis and Herm Edwards, on Sunday gave me a singular focus, forced me to contemplate an uncomfortable truth.

African-American football players caught up in the rebellion and buffoonery of hip hop culture have given NFL owners and coaches a justifiable reason to whiten their rosters.

...WOW...

rap is dominated by gangsta types. And listen to some of the lyrics. Hip hop- not so familiar with it. Does it call for beating women and such as well?

But when the culture exalts bad behavior, it creates bad behavior. It even sometimes makes people ashamed that they are not exhibiting the bad behavior.

Peer pressure can be powerful - in either direction.

Im new here and haven't seen one person to agree with Whitlock. I guess I will be the first to do so. It is about time someone stepped foward and spoke the real truth about our sports era. It has gone to trash in the past 15 years and I'm not racist but facts are facts. I remember when a football player didn't dare come to practice with fake dreds or uuhumm "nappy" hair or even hair below the ear. Look at them now. These idiots don't care about the football sport, all they care about is the money and how much they can spend to make them selves look like pretty boys. I'm not pointing my finger at any race but it is too obvious which ones come up when it comes to crime in any sport. I could go on and on but I won't. I thought about this a looong time ago and finally someone stood up and said it. MY HATS OFF TO WHITLOCK.
