Woody's Girl, I usually love and agree with anything you say but you can't honestly be saying that the hip hop culture doesn't promote a thug gangsta environment right? That is exactly where the hip hop culture spawned from. I hope I don't get banned from this board because I have absolutely loved it for 2 years but I have to say that the race card is getting pulled way too often and in conversations they have no part in. Racism is a disgrace but that card goes both ways and until minorities quit seeing color just as much as non minorities there will always be racism. Everyone, minorities and non minorities alike, need to shut up, live life, and play ball. There is my one time rant. Hope not everyone is po'd. Peace... and love each other. :D

This post is pretty ignorant and presumptuous. It reeks just as bad as some of the "Bash Dallas locals at Texas Stadium" vitriol being spewed.

Glenn Dorsey... is he done permanently? Where was he projected before the injury? How far do you think he goes down? Is he a good value pick now that we have a strong team top to bottom. In terms of the draft, I'm a firm believer that teams in the back few picks should take high risk high reward players because they can afford to lose, but hitting it big will continue their success.

The origin of hip hop did not spawn from a thug gangsta environment. That is the problem right there. Only going back to when I first started listening to rap, and they were talking about the problems in the communities, but it wasn't gangsta anything. You had artists rapping about love, sex, people talking too much, women having a big butt (Sir Mix a-lot anyone?) and so on. And there were always folks rapping about how much better than someone else as a rapper. Battle rapping was great back then.

Fast forward 20 years and you still have folks rapping about money, women, and their communities. Rap has always had an aggressive tone. The add-on now is that you do have folks talk about the violence in their communities. The only way you can tell whether something has value is in listening to it. Some do, some don't.

As with any genre of music, there will be a diverse set of music. The problem is that many of the hip hop artists who are popular and are commercialized do push a "gangsta-type" of music and are the only folks that you see. But the hip hop industry is huge and to make like it's all one type of music is a disservice to the many artists who contribute to it.

Agreeing or disagreeing with me won't get you love nor won't it get you banned. But what is a race card? Where is the "race card" being played? And how is that relevant to this discussion?

I could say more in reference to your post, but I prefer not to, since we typically don't encourage that kind of discussion on the board.

What kind of moronic thought is that? It's "perfect" than hardly anyone gets to go to the game? I'd bet if mediots like Whitlock weren't able to go to the game, he'd throw a fit. The game is SUPPOSED to be for the fans, so it's a BAD thing if fans can't go to the game without flying to Hawaii. If Bud Selig had the idea to play the baseball All-Star Game in Jamaica in front of 13,000 fans, do you think anyone would say it's a "perfect" idea because more fans couldn't go? Of course not.

Believe it or not, people live in Hawaii, it's part of America, and there are football fans there. The game sells out every year. If you can afford to even think about buying $1500 Pro Bowl tickets, I'm fairly sure you can afford $400 plane tickets to Hawaii. I would say Hawaii is a major reason to even consider going to a game like this anyway. The players don't try very hard, but everyone, including the fans, have an amazing time because of the atmosphere. I doubt anybody would want to trade that for the cold winter environment of the mainland in February.

"Let me say this off the top: I'm a Michael Smith fan. He's a young brother with talent and passion for the profession. But developing, nurturing and guiding talented young brothers and sisters is not ESPN's strength."

Who is Michael Smiths brother? Steven A? i like michael smith alot.

Seriously? Obviously, I'll bite my tongue since this is a sports forum and ignorance is not screened for. But...seriously?

kind of what i was thinking. Ray lewis has lead the defense that has carried that team for years now. Billick is supposed to be a guy who knows offense, sure doesn't show.

It's not Billick's play calling. They just don't have good offensive players. Their QB is way past his prime, as is their #1 receiver and their #2 receiver would be a 3rd on most teams. Their all-pro TE spends more time with the medical team than the coaches. The only thing they have going for them is their ground game.

As for Chad Johnson, Michael Smith did what no one else in the room wanted to do, defend a guy the media has made out to be the reason the Bengals are losing. The fact of the matter is that their coach allowed a bunch of criminals on the team, and Chad isn't among them. And who the hell made it the media's job to criticize how Johnson got his children? Matt Leinhart and Tom Brady have children with women they don't plan on marrying, but their's no huge expose on them, is there?

Yeah, it's a remote part of America accessible only by plane (or a long boat ride, of course). It's one of the least-populated states in the country. Almost any remote location -- let alone the major cities -- on the mainland will have more people within driving range than the entire population of Hawaii.

The game sells out every year.

If it's a sellout, it must be corporations buying the tickets and trying to give them away, because there are myriad empty seats every year. And from watching on TV, the atmosphere is lousy.

If you can afford to even think about buying $1500 Pro Bowl tickets, I'm fairly sure you can afford $400 plane tickets to Hawaii.

$1,500 tickets? I just went to five ticket brokers online, and each one had tickets for less than $150, with the max being around $500. One had several seat locations for $55, $75 or $90.

Please, it's a week after the Super Bowl. People flock to the Super Bowl and enjoy warm weather when it's in a warm-weather city -- where the Pro Bowl could be, as well.

Anyhow, the point is that Whitlock is a moron for saying that it's a good thing that more fans can't go to the game. How is that a good thing?

Well, I suppose that makes the $400 plane tickets even that much more affordable haha. Anyway, I just did some research and there have been 28 consecutive sell outs for the game in Hawaii. This means that people are attending, and if ur ticket prices are correct, than it's people who get to see their favorite players without spending way too much money.

The NFL has a hard enough time getting the athletes to play in this thing, so I don't see that getting any better if the game were moved to a place like Detroit. There's really nothing comparable to Hawaii on the mainland. I've never really liked Whitlock or his points, but I think the Pro Bowl in Hawaii is definitely a good thing for a lot of reasons.
