An upset, a beautiful game, and I think proof positive that good soccer is hardly boring. I did expect a good game. What I didn't expect was France to outplay Brazil on the ball so consistently.
That was a fantastic game. I love watching Zidane - he is truly one of the top players I've ever seen. If not the best then certainly the most intense.
As far as the other game, another WC, another heartbreak for England. You'd almost feel sorry for them -- if their own stupidity wasn't always the root cause of their losses.
I just had the impression it was more than just Zidane. The French forwards were outplaying the Brazilian defense. This isn't to knock Zidane.. it just seemed like a team effort to me.

Henry, Ribery, Vieira. It is a very strong group. But Zizou made it all come together. Very few players live up to the cliche "he makes everyone around him better" but he certainly does. He's a pleasure to watch - today, the announcer said one thing that stuck with me -- "Zidane does all the small things PERFECTLY" -- the difference between his play and today's sometimes sloppy work of Ronaldo and Ronaldinho made a huge difference. If France plays at today's level in the next two matches they will take the cup.
