France nugget on Dak's contract (2024 deal or 2025 new team)

Leave it to Jerry that, when given the choice, to make the worst possible decision.
I love how it's been like 3 years of you posting in here about this contact, AND BEING COMPLETELY WRONG, and you continue to post in here about this contract and continue to be completely wrong.

That makes total sense in hindsight, but re-signing Dak coming off the injury would have been even more tricky because there probably would have had to be loads of incentives written into the deal. Dallas would have probably panicked and given him what he wanted anyway. And this year, just like last year, they did not have options. None of the free agent QB's available in 2024 or 2025 come remotely close to Dak. And 12 overall is way too late to draft his successor. Even if the Cowboys tried to trade up, the teams involved would just want the QB targeted anyways.

People don't want to hear it but the Cowboys' best chance of winning games short term is having a healthy Dak under center. Once he and Lamb signed their contracts it should have opened a four year window for Dallas to truly go "all-in". But they never operate that way. They keep doing the same thing over and over expecting different results.

If they were smart they would have started a Dak succession plan a couple years ago given his injury issues. Now it is still "Dak or bust" in 2025. I still don't think Dak is the biggest problem this team has, in fact I believe he can win it all in the right situation. The problem is the Cowboys are terrible at putting their key players in the right situation and Dak's career is doomed to end the same way Tony Romo's did. Battered, bruised, title-starved, and perceived as a loser. When the real losers are Jerry and Stephen.
I nominate this for the saddest most pathetic post of the year

I'll put it this way.........there is no way in hell France would have allowed Dak to walk away from a Cowboys deal WITHOUT a better deal in his back pocket. My guess is France had at least one, maybe two teams willing to pay Dak exactly what he got from Stephen.
That would be tampering. And after the season Dak would of had no one to pay him that amount

Doing the opposite of what Jerry would do is not considered wrong in any way

I have always said they should have started serious negotiations immediately after the Super Bowl and set a hard deadline to the end of March 2024
*** complete the extension
*** mutual decision to move on with a trade before the draft
*** once the draft passes w/o a deal or trade ......Dak had 100% all leverage coz free agency. Jerry was left with 2 options .....let him walk or give him a blank check to stay.

Before 2024 draft....Jerry could at least have played hardball with the final year left on his deal and/or traded him for at least 1st, maybe more.
What lost was there in letting him walk? If he finished the season the Cowboys would have had a worse record then what they finished with any way

They blew this from the beginning with the fifth year thing then the tag. The timing was off.

Jerry think everyone performs better with “their backs against the wall,”

Dak didn’t win, still signed him. And again.
He certainly thinks like that with coaches

Timing would of been perfect. Dak walks and Dallas goes into tank mode for 2025 season and drafts Manning. They are set for the next 12 years all by sacrificing one season to get rid of a bum QB.
Oh well dumb owner/GM keeps on with dumb moves.
I have been beating this drum right up until those idiots payed him.

Dak getting injured only reinforced that Jerry misplayed this.....it was the perfect situation and the FO blew it

Was there ANY team wanting Dak for that much mulah, I haven't heard any team to this day...Or Jerry make a deal high on Bourbon??
He was runner up for MVP the season before and you had several teams in need of a QB so yeah that's likely where his market would be. Whether we should have been the team to pay him is a different story.

I don't believe he would have walked. I think that's total BS.

But so what if he did? That's how the game is played. Otherwise why not pay Dak $100 million per year? It is called value. I don't care what any team would pay Dak. I would only worry about how much he is worth on the field. Dak is not worth $60 million. He was never worth $60 million and he never will be worth $60 million. If Dak wanted to walk, then fine, let him find $60 million somewhere else.

With Josh Allen getting $55 million we now know Dak is overpaid by at least $5 million and likely much more.
