It probably wont happen but can happen.

Someone signs Pickens to offer sheet. Work out trade for 1st and 4th rd pick

Someone signs Bass to offer sheet, we decline = 2nd rd pick

Someone signs Aubrey to offer sheet, we decline= 2nd round pick

Go into the draft with three 1st, two 2nds and two 4ths.

Just saying. Would make for a fun offseason, draft.

Yes, but this is not the draft for all those picks in my opinion.

I'd be more willing to let Bass and Aubrey walk than GP but that's kinda beside the point. Your scenario is worth a thought, 'cause that could indeed happen, and it would really open things up. If they nailed the picks it could actually be the best-case scenario, especially considering Bass isn't even a starter.

If you lose a player that can cover 3 spots and do it well, they will most likely need to be replaced by at least 2.

Good point. But a 2nd round pick can be a Day One starter. You lose depth but get better.

Creating a lot more holes to fill. I'd rather keep the players. We know what we are getting from them. Draft picks are always risky.

I believe if someone signs Pickens to an offer sheet then it is an automatic two firsts. Jerry would be a moron at that point to work out a trade for less.

The question is then, who would be willing to give up two firsts?

All true, but never underestimate how gullible Jerry is. Howie Roseman would probably be able to talk Jerry into surrendering a 1st round pick for a future 2nd.

True, but than you have to hope they draft well to take advantage of the extra picks:p

True, but you will still most likely need 2 backups or will need to draft a quality player who can potentially cover multiple positions.

You can pay someone more if they can play 3 spots and it opens up an extra roster spots.

I think keep Bass or Hoffman, not both.

I hear you, but I also agree it probably won't happen.

In fact I dont believe anyone will give us those picks for any of those players.

If I had to bet, I'd say Aubrey is our best chance at getting a draft pick. Every now and again some wild team burns a high pick on a big legged kicker.

Keep Pickens, let Bass and Aubrey go.

Bass can be replaced by Robert Jones who was injured last year.

Dallas has had a great history of finding kickers. I believe they can find another one.

Dallas then has two 1st and two 2nd. That's two more players to fix the defense.

There was a comment above about this draft being deep at LB and Safety. In the first round go CB then DL. In the 2nd go LB and safety.

You now have added one player to each position group on defense.

There is a rule about the tendered guys where once you do it for a guy originally taken lower than the tender compensation that if there is another that guy also they get a round lower. So Bass & Aubrey would be a 2nd and a 3rd.

Upgraded Tender: If a team places a first-round tender on a player who was selected outside of the first round, it can only receive a second-round pick as compensation for any of its other RFAs who were first-round draft picks. The same is true for the second-round tender—if a team uses it on a player drafted in the third round or lower, it can only receive a third-round pick for any other second-round RFA it intends to tender.

Example: The Saints used a first-round RFA tender on QB/RB/WR/TE Taysom Hill during the 2020 offseason. Had the Saints had any RFAs who were former first-round picks, it would only have been able to receive a second-round selection in return for a declined offer sheet.

Would rather hope we get that by just trading down

...someone signs Steele for two No 1's and 4th n 5th rounder.

Im just speculating too. Could be more.

I could definitely see a team give up a late second for Aubrey.

A trade is different from an offer sheet to sign. How it would work is the team gets a handshake agreement with Pickens on a long term deal, then works out a trade with Dallas. If they can’t agree on the draft compensation then no official offer happens and Pickens is staying with the Cowboys on the one year franchise tag. Highly unlikely anyone puts in an official offer to give up two 1sts.

I agree. Bass is a great backup, but if we can get a second-rounder for him, then we can possibly get a starter. Aubrey is a fantastic kicker, but I'll take a second to use on another position and take the top kicker available later in the draft.

I can't see anyone being willing to spend a second on Bass, but I could see it with Aubrey since teams have used an early pick on a kicker before.
