Frank Coyles scout for Draft Insiders recent Mock Draft Selections
for the Cowboys. What is your opinion of these two choices and
would this really improve the defense?

11. Dallas - David Pollack, DE Georgia

Boys front four needs a big time edge Pass Rusher.

20. Dallas (Buffalo) - Carlos Rogers, CB Auburn

Boys would love to select this tough cover man.

I would have no problem with those selections.

I would love those picks.
IF we keep Zimmer I think Pollack is a perfect fit here.
He can get the 7 to 9 sacks a year Greg Ellis has and play the run tough like Ellis.

Rogers is an excellent cover man who doesn't need to rely on grabbing and hand fighting.

I'd still miss the big DT but perhaps Ngata will be there in 3 or we go Albert Means in round 4. Or we just sign Jason Ferguson.

I would take it, but I would prefer MW or Edwards for our first choice.

We don't have a 3.

Aye.
Ngata wouldn't be there by 3 anyways. I meant 2 and mistyped.

Ngata might go round 1 if he declares and will be a mid 2nd at worst.

Would you take Ngata with the Cowboys 2nd Round Pick? This
would be your first three pick:

David Pollack

Carlos Rogers

Ngata

I would gladly, gladly do that then focus on offense in free agency.

If we can get John Abraham in free agency I am with you.
If not then I'd really like the possiblity of Pollack instead of MW and signing Plaxico Burress.

I like Rogers at #20. Good Pick.

However I do not feel Pollack is close to being worth the #11 pick.

I am a fan of Pollack at the College level. I loved his motor, hustle, and heart. Very good College player that was fun to watch. However, I do not think he will be more than a average DE in the NFL. I just do not see the skills to produce in the NFL. JMO.

If we drafted him, I would support him and hope I was wrong, but would have serious reservations about the pick.

My question with him is...does he fit into the 3-4? Not as a DE...would as the OLB. Is he the best choice for that position with the 11th pic? I personally think not.

I agree totally, we could probably drop a few spots at 11 and still get pollack.
I think we still have to find a WR, either MW or BE or Porter or Burress in FA and either DT Ferguson or Pat Williams.

Then I'd love to top off day one of the draft with FS Butler.

I would not mind ending up with Pollack and Rogers, but 11 & 20 is too high for them respectively.

You could trade down to the high teens and still get Pollack and Rogers will be there late round one and maybe until round 2.

We could acquire extra picks and still get these guys.
