Fred Robbins looks like the odd man out.

He's more of a penetrator than an anchor, but I'm not sure he's athletic enough to play DE in teh 3-4. He's also probably looking at his last contract, so he'll want a bit more.

He'd have to be a NT.

Yeah that was my point, I don't know that he's an anchor, he's not going to be that run stopper some are after at NT but he can do some of the things Ratliff does.

With the signings of Canty and Bernard, it looks like there is a surplus of DL in New York. They are going to want Canty to see the field with Coefield,Bernard,Alford, and Robbins all playing DT. Reading some articles and blogs it looks like Robbins may be released.

He's 31...tit for tat? No idea how he would play in a 3-4.

Was he the Giants DT with the knee injury? I thought he had some time of injury and that why the Giants wanted to bring in new DL.

If he's released, there's no better way to get back at the Giants than to sign with the Cowboys for a cap friendly contract and put up better stats than Canty.

Husdson houck last year in december said the best lineman the giants had was robbins and he was the hardest to deal with.

I think he just had it scoped but everything is fine.

That's interesting.

Any idea why they want to release him then and instead go with Canty?

No, thanks. Recent knee injury, and not a 3-4 NT. He's not worth spending money on, IMO. We should look to the draft to fill this position.

Ya I remember that too..I'm just curious if Robbins could play that NT and be a clogger and get some rush up the middle.

But still . . . .

That's a massive contract to give to Canty unless you're really worried about the health of Robbins or it's something else.

Because canty is a great guy and a good solid football player.

its a good fit for canty there. Its the same type of philosophy he has always been in.

I miss canty already. His run stopping abilities I think are greatly underrated here and he is a terrific locker room guy. He will be hard to replace.
