Move over, Emmitt Smith. There's a new Florida rushing champ.

Glades Day (Belle Glade, Fla.) junior running back Kelvin Taylor ran for 388 yards on 34 carries in a 43-29 win over South Fork (Stuart, Fla.) on Friday night to move into first place on the Florida career rushing list with 8,975 yards. The previous mark of 8,804 yards was held since 1986 by Smith, who played for Escambia (Pensacola, Fla.).

Taylor, the son of former NFL star running back Fred Taylor, ran for six touchdowns against South Fork to push his Florida-record total to 141.

And he's only a junior? He's going to blow that record away next year

Nice job Emmitt, it only took 25 years for someone to catch you!

It'll take that long at least for someone to catch his biggest record

Not that impressive, his OL is littered with future HoF players...

If Barry Sanders had had that line, then well...

I salute talent, but doing at the high school (or college) level isn't all that impressive. (only 2.4% of college players become pros) When you break records pro level. THEN I accept it as greatness.

Give Barry Sanders, Emmitt Smith, Eric Dickerson, or whomever else enough chances or a shot at enough TERRIBLE teams, they would shatter numerous records.

We are talking high school. Might as well be fleas playing defense.

What is stupid? That he is a high schooler? Or the fact that I don't look to much into high school stats?

And i'm sure high school players every where really care what you think about high school stats.

That many yards is dang impressive. The kid is going to leave high school having run for over 10,000 yards in 4 years. That's dang impressive.

It should be noted that Taylor has piled up his numbers since the eighth grade. Smith's numbers were amassed from the ninth through 12th grades, so when Taylor finishes this season he and the NFL Hall of Famer will have played the same amount of prep seasons.

The NFHS, the national governing body, only recognize numbers accumulated from the ninth through 12th grade, so Taylor will not pass Smith, barring injury, until next season on its leader list.

I'm sorry, but that is impressive at any level.

I love how people act like this game is so freaking easy.

It is a game, and games in general are pretty freaking easy. It may take a lot of talent and hard work to be great at, but it is still just a game.
