Freds thoughts

There was an interview of Travis Frederick’s thoughts on playing with Romo and Dak. He said Romo was asking him questions after a play (especially in his first year) as to why Fred made the calls or decisions he did. But his thoughts on Dak was all about locker room relationship and leadership that Dak has.

So what’s the difference really?

Romo studied the game within the game and tried to figure out the defense. Romo would be more likely to change a play completely to abuse a coverage or d-scheme. Linehan said that he didn’t really give Romo plays, as much as suggestions with the personnel.

Dak is more about loyalty and unity and less likely to change a play at all. Dak makes adjustments that are available within the plays he is given. So as we all have seen, when the play is bad, Dak is bad.

I’m hoping for next year that given how loyal Dak is, that the OC and Schotty are more creative and orchestrating rather than allowing him more leeway which isn’t his strength. (There’s also a reason why McCarthy just couldn’t make the WCO work with Dak and admitted - according to Jane Slater- his last season was very much Garrett’s playbook.)

Exactly why every OC/play caller has been scapegoated throughout Dak's career.

Dak is the king of changing plays and checkdowns. Both are incredibly frustrating to watch.
