Free Agency revisited

Ok, I don't want to get ahead of myself here. I'm not convinced we've signed TO, offered Josh Brown a contract, or signed Fabini. I'm not even sure what to think about TO.

But we've been lamenting our poor showing in FA so far. Two signings? Well, three if you count Gurode (I don't).

But let's look at this again:

We need:
RT
OG
WR
LB
OLB
FS
K

If you believe all the rumors you get:
RT: Fabini--can provide us with stopgap until a draft pick is ready
OG: Kosier--young, said to be a good signing by several NFL guys
WR: Owens--talent is there....is his head?...boom/bust
LB: Ayodele--Size and athleticism in MLB..
OLB: Still needs addressed
FS: Still needs addressed
K: Possibly Brown?

Well, you can say that would be a splash. Whether you like Owens or not.

Again, I don't want to put the cart before the horse here. There's a lot of "what ifs" and "may haves" and "scheduled visits" and "rumor says".

FS has got to be the biggest omission. Why the Cowboys didn't pounce on Demps is still making me scratch my head... especially since the Giants got him.

Owens is the biggest difference maker we could have added this offseason. Period.


I actually believe he will be just fine, at least for this year.

If our offseason ends up like that, that would be an improvement. I am fine with Fabini, I think if we had him last year (barring his injury), we were in the playoffs.

Kicker is really the one sore spot, along with FS.

Kicker HAS to get done in FA. There is no other option.

FS can get done in the draft, and probably will.

To me, unless you believe theranchreport.com, I think it is only speculation at this point.

Have not seen hard evidence of it anywhere.

I agree with you.

Kicker is pretty important. I wouldn't be opposed to signing Brown. I'm desperate for a kicker.
