What gap?

The teams split their games last year were tied going into the last game with Dallas missing half their team.

One team with a rookie HC starting a QB starting his first year and wasn't even the starter at the start of the year

Another in the same offensive system for 6+ years with a top 10 QB long term

Both ending with the same record and split H2H games

Not unreasonable to suggest that there might be a gap there

CowboysZone LOYAL Fan
We were lucky in the first game where Foles was missing wide open WRs all over the field. If he had played even half as good as he did the rest of the season, we'd have lost.

If you don't think the Eagles are ascending right now while we are just kind of wallowing around in the middle, then you are just being a homer IMO. If they get Byrd and fill some other holes on defense through the draft and free agency, they are clearly a better team at this point.

I think both teams were mediocre.

Classic how some on this Cowboys fan website are quick to make excuses for the Eagles, of all teams, but the first to pile on the Cowboys.
If you don't think missing half the team in that final game (and for much of the season, other than Romo) just maybe hurt us a tiny bit, then maybe you are the homer...for the Eagles that is.

I'm not saying there may not be a gap going forward. But I did not see a gap last year. They both were not so great, imo.

Guys, please don't hijack this thread. It is going to be long enough as it is. If you want to debate merits of players or fans, please take it somewhere else.

I am not piling on the Cowboys. The Eagles certainly weren't great but they seemed to improve, especially defensively over the course of the year (they were expected to be dreadful on D and turned out to be at least mediocre). But they beat us for the division with a coach who had never coached in the NFL before and a QB in his first year. So on results alone, they had a gap over us - how big, you can quibble with that all you want. Now they have cap space and can sign impact free agents whereas we just have to sit around and wait for the draft to really make any meaningful improvements to the club.

It stinks, but the reality is there was a gap, and the gap could get larger.

Where? What player will replace his production next year and command a safety over the top for 75%+ percent of the game?

Here's ones that don't get paid what Jackson does, don't destroy their locker rooms and surely don't have their fans fearing injury every time they get hit.

Josh Gordon
Alshon Jeffrey
Demaryius Thomas
Antonio Brown
Dez Bryant
AJ Green
Pierre Garçon
Jordy Nelson

Don't get me into who is making the same or more and at least producing what Jackson does.

^ i get that there a better WR out there. But that doesnt mean the eagles can cut/trade 10 and get one of those guys for the 2014/15 season. Also where is this idea coming from that he "destroys the eagles locker room" lmao

In FA news looks the the Ravens will continue to add weapons around flaco
"NFL Network's Aditi Kinkhabwala reports the Ravens have internally discussed free agent Owen Daniels."

could be a great option in 2TE sets for them

When the #Browns reach a deal with Donte Whitner, I’m told it’s expected to be four years for an average of $7M per year.

Meaning byrd will at least get 8 mill a year

Texans make it official, announce they've released tight end Owen Daniels and defensive back Brice McCain

@mattbarrows
Hearing Antoine Bethea is another possibility at safety for #49ers.

@Rich_Campbell
A suitor for Bears CB Charles Tillman has emerged, and it will not surprise you: http://******/1nGZGAY ......bucs

@RapSheet
If #Panthers WR Steve Smith is released, as expected after trying to trade him, don’t be surprised if the #Ravens emerge as his landing spot

What's it going to be then, eh?

Wholly Schlitz batman...the Browns have lost their minds. First over paying for Dansby.... now Whitner. Yet their letting TJ Ward walk....makes zero sense.
It is rather incredible what they are doing. It is like nobody there has a functional brain. They are actually getting older, not younger in free agency.

Cleveland seems hell bent on spending as much of their free cap space as possible this free agency period. LOL.

Maybe TJ Ward wanted to leave? And he would have been more expensive than $7M per year and he is only 1 year younger than Whitner. I dont see how they overpaid for Whitner. Dansby on the other hand... i agree, he is not worth that.

Ware being released apparently, wow.
