Free Agency Strategy!

I genuinely feel bad for a good amount of people around here that somehow interpret the history of this FO, along with “selectively aggressive,” and “I’m not looking at FA to fill voids” to mean they are going to sign a handful of impact players.

Maybe I’m wrong, but I guess we are going to find out soon.
They are hopefully GM Jethro means the opposite of what he actually says. Like last year we were All-In.

Stephen and Jerry love Comp Picks. They will let him walk and hope he brings a 5th next year.
Their plan is actually a great one…..provided they could draft better and more consistently than any team in league history.

The Jones' love their 5th round comp picks so much, we waste our 4th round picks on purpose.

The depth of this year's draft is at RB, DT, Edge. Both the WR/off ball LB's lack depth and high-end talent.

#2 WR-almost forced to use our 1st rd pick at the position if not addressed in fa. Day 2 selections will not make a big enough impact and be much of an upgrade of what we currently have.

-Sign or trade for a veteran #2 starter. Players like Adams, Diggs, Kupp all can come at a discount and be very good compliments to Lamb. This also allows more developmental time for our younger prospects.

MLB-Kendricks is a fa and was only brought in to help with Zimmer's transition. Probably won't return. Marist is still a developing prospect and Overshown isn't expected to return next season. If this team truly wants to get better against the run, this is one of the positions you look to spend your resources.

-Sign a Type A free agent like the local Dallas Product Nick Bolton or Raiders tackling machine Spillane. Both are tremendous run defenders that do enough in coverage to stay on the field.

Corner-not many discuss this as a position of need. Look what happened last year when they were forced to start street fa's at the position. Diggs who has been discussed as a cap casualty to expected to miss time next season recovery from major injury, some even speculated he could be like Overshown and miss the entire season.

-Sign or trade for an experienced starting corner, like they did with Gilmore two seasons ago.

Secondary areas to consider:

NT-unfortunately Mazi Smith has progressed as we all have hoped. Has gotten better, but still remains a below average starter. They could look towards the draft to add another prospect, but they typicially take time to develop at the position. Signing a veteran like 49ers Hargrave would make a ton of sense. Can play either interior spots and take Mazi off the field against the pass.

DE-If DLaw/Golston both depart it opens up a huge hole at starting Left DE. Kneeland is still developing, cannot rely on Sam Williams at this point especially coming back from major injury. Kind of like WR, almost have to use a top pick to address this need. Matt Judon another Dallas local player could be a good short-term solution.
Forget it.....Jerry only shops at Dollar General

Agree with all but WR. Sitting at 12 we are in a prime spot to get a good young WR prospect. We have to sign a DT, a RB and probably a DE. I’d sign Lewis to help at CB

Puts themselves in a corner. If they decide to go in that direction, I would trade back and take one of those top receivers

We have so many holes they have a lot of work to do just to field a team. If they were to get Micah signed they would even have more money. This thing could turn around in a season with just a reasonable strategic FA season.
I agree but they have waited to long to sign Parsons and they are playing catch up ,instead of moving toward another player. The wheels turn slow in Ol Jerry and Sons circus.

Can you imagine Tet McMillan and Cee Lamb playing together in this offense, with a good running game to keep the safeties honest. This could be a pick your poison type balanced offense with motion and play action.

There still are some good options in fa
Yeah. I just got my hopes up for Bolton. I ate the cheese.

Side note I am kind of disappointed that we have not signed anymore of our own players like Gholston or Lewis. Makes me think our ownership group is up to their old tricks.

Ol Jerry and Son are behind their times, they simply are inept at the planning it takes to be a GM in the NFL.

I do think there is a plan. They have cap money but if the plan is third and fourth tier free agents that is not smart. I don’t know about Will Hernandez, Gilmore, and Lockett. Those would be overpays. Maybe Kenlaw.

Their agents want to see what their market is first
