The new league year has started, they would still have to pay his base salary of 5.99m. His roster bonus of 1m locks in on the 5th day of the year. If you cut him right now you could save about 1.5m but what would be the point.

If a player is cut and has no remaining guaranteed money, the team will still have to account for the player's base salary for the current season against their salary cap, even though the player is no longer on the roster.

If he was cut before the league year started there would have been significant savings, because it wasn't guaranteed. Its to late now.

This Isn’t accurate. You’re not on the hook for his full salary until the first week of the season, not the first week of the new league year

Of COURSE Dallas should be looking to see what Dalvin Tomlinson is looking for $$$ wise since Collins is basically replacing him…but they won’t. On his WORST days, he’s LIGHT YEARS better than Mazi.

Tomlinson signed with the Cardinals at 2 years and $29 million. Probably about $21 million more than what we would offer

The base is only guaranteed after week 1 since he's a vet.
After double checking the contract, the only dead cap would be the bonus that would be paid out in a few days of 1mil.

His cap hit is 7.4mil after the trade since Titans are eating the 2.5mil signing bonus charge.

If he absolutely stinks it up in camp, they could save 6.4mil if they want to cut their losses.
