Free Agent Big Board: Will The Cowboys Make A Big Splash?

http://www.bloggingtheboys.com/2016...-big-board-will-the-cowboys-make-a-big-splash

The Free Agent Big Board is finally complete. Over a month ago, we decided to take a look at the top 20 free agents at each position and evaluate them. They were given a score based on talent, need, and age. Then, these players were placed into groups depending on the projected size of the contract they would demand.

They are as follows:

  • Splash Signings = average annual salary = $7 million or more
  • Upscale Purchases = average annual salary = $5 to $7 million
  • Value Guys = average annual salary = $3 to $5 million
  • Bargain Buys = average annual salary = $2 to $3 million
  • Clearance Rack = average annual salary = $2 million or less
With the help of my BTB peers, we then ranked ten players in each group (score of 10 being the highest) as we selected the free agents we wanted the Cowboys to go after. It is time to deliver these results.

Since the big signings will get the free agency frenzy started, we begin by revealing the big money players that could make a huge impact for the Cowboys...

No signs that we will meddle with Weddle.

No big splashes...just little piddles and maybe a skip & jump. If your willing to give a big hometown
discount, you may now line up at the Cowboys office unemployment line.

Interesting question for the Zone. I just read an article about keeping our line together and it made me reconsider how we approach FA. Would you all rather sign a big name/talent FAs now or use our cap money to attempt to keep our O-Line together?

If signing average to below average guys is a splash then yes, yes they will make a BIG splash.

O-line. I'm not even worried sbout signing anyone this year. None of the FA's available tickle my pickle anyways. Keeping the band together is a much bigger priority, especially if we have a new QB in a few years.

Lamar Miller, a solid DT, and I'm OK with whatever else.

I doubt they do Miller as he's asking for way too much Quan. It's likely that the Cowboys will find a RB somewhere
in this draft cause Jerry said any old RB could get 1200 yds behind this line. We could use a speed demon WR
who could get open on the slant for Romo. Defense could take it easy in the 4th quarter with an offense like that.
