Realistically how many Free Agent Dollars do you see Cowboys Spending outside of their own signings ?

My hope we can be cap friendly on our own Player signings but somehow be able to upgrade the Roster. I still would like to add Earl Thomas to the Secondary, replace Beasely with Adam Humphries and sign a DT like Sheldon Richardson. If these could happen and we draft a TE in the 2nd Round like Irv Smith from Alabama I would be all smiles. I just think dollar wise it can be done with some cuts and restructures.

I don't see us adding ET unless we let someone we expect to keep walk.

If they keep their own free agents the roster is better in 2019 than in 2018.

Review of 2018:

Rookies that started games:
Vander Esch
Gallup
Connor Williams

Cooper not on the roster in training camp or first 7 games.

Frederick missed the season.

Other 1st time starters:
Woods at FS
Woods at 1-tech DT
Jarwin/Shultz at TE
Randy Gregory at RDE

Byron Jones 1st full year starting at CB.
Awuzie 1st full year at CB.
Brown 1st full year as the slot CB.

Jaylon's 1st full year starting.

Collins 2nd year at RT.

1st year in the Kris Richard coverage scheme.

2019:
Moore can't be worse than Linehan at OC. No guarantee that he is better but can't be worse. The winning streak that started around mid-season coincides with the time that Moore and Nussmeier were reported to have gotten more involved in the game plans and play designs.

They'll add the 2019 draft picks.

If they don't re-sign their own free agents, then those positions must be addressed. Beasley seems like the only significant free agent to not be re-signed.

What I would do:
Be opportunistic. That's how the Pats tend to operate.

I doubt the Cowboys do much other than re-sign most of their own players.

TEs and run stopping 1-tech type DTs tend to be the least expensive positions in free agency.

I'm not certain there are any good fits at TE.

Cook has decent numbers but something seems off with him because he does not stay long with any team.

Eifert has only started 17 games of the last 80.

DT Danny Shelton might be a bargain because he only played about 30% of the snaps for the Pats.

At 3-tech DT they've been interested in Sheldon Richardson in the past. He played on a 1-year, 8M prove-it type contract last season after a down year in 2017.

Look at Beasley replacements. I expect Tavon Austin to be re-signed for 1-year, 3M. They have Cedrick Wilson returning from IR and he was ahead of Gallup in training camp.

Adam Humphries would be more versatile than Beasley (bigger and legit punt returner); however, he'll likely be more expensive than Beasley.

Examples from 2018
The Vikings signed:
Sheldon Richardson 1-year, 8M
George Iloka 1-year, 880K

The Colts traded a 4th for:
Snacks Harrison 7M for 2019, 9.25M for 2020

Haven't talked to you directly in a hot minute, Night-Night.
I hope everything is great on your end!

I see them adding at least with reasoning, TE and LBer.

LBer.....we always use free agency to fill open starting positions. Not sure we're looking to resign starter D. Wilson

TE......Since SJ has made upgrading this position an offseason priority, I can't see 58 being ENOUGH of an upgrade to be a day-one starter. Remember the comment was made with regard to our red zone/scoring issues. I've read at least a couple tweets from so-called experts that as many 4 TEs could be select within the top 50 picks, meaning the top of the cream could be off the board by our selection. Not saying we CAN'T upgrade the unit with 58, but can we find a player (TE) that brings consistent impact to the offense. I'm not sure so for that reason I think we likely consider a free agent.

I posted a quick-cut of bad contracts just the other day which allows the Cowboys to create $20 million to spend on free agents without touching any of their current cap space for 2019.

Cut Sean Lee - saves you $7 million
Cut Tyron Crawford - saves you $6 million
Cut Allen Hurns - saves you $5 million
Cut Terrance Williams - saves you $2.5 million

And my own wish list matches very much with yours:
Earl Thomas at $10 million (tops, just for the sake of argument)
Sheldon Richardson at $7-8 million
Tyler Eifert at $2-$3 million

Bad contracts off the cap and the team's three biggest needs filled with proven veterans who can contribute from day one.

On to the draft for best players available.

Never happens
But I get the feeling a real player, maybe two could happen this year
We don’t have a one, we are gonna have several open roster spots
I just get a feeling this year we go out and hire someone we’ve heard of

Grady Jarrett or draft the best 1-Tech or best 3-Tech on the board...

Not a fan of drafting like that
We need a DT but if there is a better WR or OT you take the better player

I agree, bpa or trade down is the way to go. To clarify, those two positions are ideal and hope something falls to us, even if it’s a 7th rounder...

We really need a OT added but I have no clue if there will be a quality prospect there
We are likely losing our swing and Collins is a free agent next year

If an OT is pure bpa sure but otherwise I would keep La’el as our swing tackle, move Williams to RT, Looney is our LG assuming T-Fred is back, and we’re good.. We have depth but I want another guard if one falls..

Collins is a lefty and he would be a better LT anyways, he excelled there in college..

I don’t see a good chance of actually getting a good one but the need is there
I don’t think they are moving Connor myself and looney will go back to swing C/G
Not a fan of moving a second year player myself and I don’t think he’s really built to play tackle

Maybe Thomas that's it. But dont see it happening.

Thomas is intriguing
They obviously want to trade for him knowing they would have to pay him
Now it’s just the money and no picks
But now we have cooper to pay
I think they will still want him but there is less money to pay him but safeties haven’t been getting huge deals and he’s coming off another injury
If they could get the price right I think they want the player but it would have to be less than he was wanting now with cooper added
