If Spencer is gone and Crawford plays 1st/2nd downs at SDE, who would be some Free Agent options as a Nickel Pass-rusher? At what cost?

Dwight Freeney, Age 33, 5 sacks/14 starts in 2012
Osi, Age 31, 6 sacks/4 starts in 2012, 9 sacks/7 starts in 2011
Juqua Parker, Age 34, 6 sacks/Zero starts in 2012
Victor Butler, Age 25, 3 sacks/1 start in 2012

All those guys just seem very expensive to me. I wouldn't mind osi if I had to pick one though

probably Crawford comes in on nickel situations with hatcher moving outside.

Ware Ratliff Crawford Hatcher =nickel

Ware Ratliff Hatcher Ansah (first round pick?) as our base.

if we were to draft ansah you would take him off the field vs a passing formation?

wow.

That's not what at meant. I would use Crawford only when ansah or even hatcher need a breather. I think ansah is a 3 down player. I don't think we'll carry that nickel specialist but rather give crawford more opportunities.

I don't think we'll end up bringing in a nickel pass rusher. If Crawford continues to develop, it'd be Ware, Ratliff, Crawford, Hatcher with whatever rookie three technique we end up with rotating in. Assuming we let Spencer go. If we keep Spencer, then he's obviously the end and we probably put Hatcher inside at the three in the nickel. Lisemore, too, will probably get some chances inside.

I will be interested in seeing how Wilber has developed and how he will be utilized in Kiffins D, might be someone to watch.

I will, too. I've already sort-of written him off b/c of how unbelievably stiff he looked at LB and because I've heard literally no positive buzz about him as a player, but sometimes these guys surprise you between seasons.

Sometimes guys who aren't comfortable simply can't play until they get on top of things mentally. I thought Harris looked that way last season--apart from the big plays in the preseason which were just really good athletic plays--he looked really stiff in his routes to me, and likely to not be anything special. This year, he surprised everybody, I think.

How much for Dwight Freeney (Age 33)?

I'm not saying that it's a good idea, just wondering how much...

The best part about Ansah is he is still so raw. Just wait until he has Marinelli (I'm assuming he's a Cowboy), and he learns angles, rushing techniques and especially, the physics of a powerful and effective tackle.

Right now, by his own instincts and the limited coaching he has received in college, he swims his way through blockers, grabs the ball carrier up around the shoulder pads and goes into an alligator death roll.

It just seems like he invented his own way of attacking and it works. Imagine what happens with coaching and weight training.

If you are going to play, Play Like That.
