I am still looking at Waters KC know he is up there in years

Waters may not play quite up to his salary this season. He is getting older and nearing the end of his career. Let's not forget that he started at guard for the best rushing attack in the NFL last season.

Harris fromn Ten

Evan Mathis (CIN) - As we've pointed out countless times, when Mathis starts at left guard, the Bengals interestingly win football games. Mathis was graded as the third best linemen during pass and rush blocks by Pro Football Focus during a seven-game stretch that the Bengals went 6-1. He graded as the second-best overall lineman for the entire year and as this awesome reward, they replace him with a player that Pro Football Focus graded as one of the worst offensive linemen on the team.

That would be a pleasant surprise. I would love to see them sign a guy like Blalock. The guy is a hard working, blue collar player that isnt flashy but will get the job done.

but i'd like to see someone that's entering his prime and fits what we appear to be trending towards and that's young, quick & athletic lineman .. as opposed to the old trend of big, slow mauling type of OL

i've read good things about blalock and maybe waters has a year or two left in the tank .. he could be like when we signed ray donaldson years ago at the end of his career to come in to fill in the gap until arkin is ready

i was hoping for a guy like deuce latui but he already signed elsewhere

Blalock is only 27 that is entering prime for an offensive linemen, plus he has to be more fleet a foot then Holland.

Holland checked in at 340lbs. I have serious reservations of him holding up out there.

Even if it's just a stopgap, we need to plug in something here.

I like the idea of Waters because he can be the 'hold the fort' guy this year until Costa or Arkin are ready to take over.

That actually doesn't sound bad at all for Holland. That's typical weight for "fat" guards like him and Nate Newton for example. 325 would be a guy in fantastic shape.

I am warming to the idea

We already got Kosier for that.

I want Blalock. Waters as a backup plan.

Get Blalock, sign him to a 6 year contract. Lock him up while he's in entering his prime.

Would like to rent Brian Waters for a year who was recently released by KC.

Yes he's 34, but I can guarantee you he's better than Holland, and can move better than Bigg Davis.

For those wanting Waters, his pass blocking has really slipped. That is what lead to his release. A fan favorite for his consistent effort every year he just isn't the same player anymore.
