Free Agent WR Brandin Cooks says Dallas doesn't do enough to help Dak Prescott

Cowboys $106 million free-agent WR says Dallas doesn't do enough to help Dak Prescott

Free agency has started and the Dallas Cowboys are once again continuing their frugal ways, which means there isn't much help coming for the highest paid player on the team. Quarterback Dak Prescott is the lightning rod for both the Cowboys' successes and failures, but according to wide receiver Brandin Cooks, it's the organization that needs to step up their game, not Prescott.

In an interview with DLLS Sports, the free agent WR who's made over $106 million across his career and played with Prescott the past two seasons, believes the organization isn't doing enough to put the franchise QB in the best position to win.

So he's accepting that he shouldnt be a WR2? Brandin, we know he needs more, the issue is he needs more of EVERYTHING. As your Franchise QB gets really expensive, he should be taking the added responsibility, to go with his paycheck.

Funny. As soon as I read the title, I didn't even have to look to see who posted it.
Not surprising to see your comment. What did you expect? This is the Fan Zone inside of Cowboys Zone and Dak is this team's franchise QB. Plus, this is recent news from Brandin Cooks. You certainly aren't going to mention any news about Dak unless it's bad news.

While true it doesn’t excuse this front office from making dumb moves. Dak’s salary is why they should be smarter with their roster moves not dumber. And going into the season with Guyton as your left tackle and Rico and Zeke as your main backs was stupidity of a team not serious about winning.

You know how it be man they want more Philly posts or anti Dak posts or better yet more “Romo was amazing”
Posts.

Been saying this for years. A sports psychologist might do wonders for him. He's shown the skill set to make all the necessary throws, but he seems either hesitant or overexcited, when the time comes.
That's called choking Runny lol. He will never get a shrink. In his eyes it would be admitting he's a choker and damage his "brand." Which is kind of ironic because his brand is being a choker.

And what’s crazy is Dak was MvP runner up and All Pro with this front office. You got thr right guy now build around him.

Look how the Texans are doing everything they can to take advantage of Strouds contract or the Eagles with Hurts or Tua or Burroe.

Dak has his blame in our failures for sure but the Cowboys arrogance or incompetence after one of the best rookie campaigns said you know what we did so well their rookie year let’s waste time trying to fight Zeke’s suspension and not build around Dak. Yeah a past his prime Dez, Terrence Williams and Witten should be enough as we proceed to watch Chaz Green repeatedly get destroyed by a man with one arm.

Dak and Zeke should’ve had more post season success than they did. Arrogance and incompetence killed that.
100% spot on brother.

That's the paradox about the MVP vote....he comes second and the very next game he contributes to the blow-out. There's an argument to say that Jerry did restructure monies to build the three 12-5 seasons (hence the $40m CAP still outstanding on Dak's last contract, Martin's contract and D-Law's).

I mean we could/should of traded for Henry at the deadline in 2023, but in hindsight, that wouldnt of got us past GB and would of killed us, trading away a 1st.

At the end of the day, as you say, when those top paid players dont perform (not a co-incidence that 2023 saw an uptick when Tyron was fit and available) there's very little point in shifting blame to the middle and bottom end of the roster.

Hey, if I ever see any good news about Dak, I'll be sure to post it.

Are we sure he hasn’t lol? He seems to be pro mental health seems like that would be a option at some point.

But isnt his degree in psychology.....I think he see's himself as the psychologist not the patient, but you're right, there's a distinct lack of composure when under pressure.

I don’t think Henry or any running back on an expiring deal would’ve cost a 1st rounder. But the reason I was for signing or trading for Henry was because of thr effect he’d have on the locker room. This team needed physicality, grit and leadership in it. The young players and hell the vets needed to witness that.

The frustrating thing is watching how this team was built. In the mist of it you don’t even realize how bad they are until 6 or 7 years down the road you are watching the Commanders and Eagles play in a NFC championship game while we proceed to sign Paris Campbell. A guy that isn’t even fit to be on Eagles practice squad…..

Maybe he practices the Stuart Smalley method of daily affirmations in the mirror. "I'm good enough. I'm smart enough, and dog-gone it, people like me!"

If he has, maybe he should go more often. He looks absolutely overwhelmed and lost at times.
I mean that’s gonna happen some games. Eli would win a SB and next season have that dumb look on his face. I don’t know if it’s mental or him complaining. Him not being good enough. But I’ll say this. Everyone isn’t meant to be QB if this team. I question if there’s anyone that can. 49ers for sure had his number and or my mental state I hope he never plays them for the rest of my life.

Of course its Jerry's fault....as he messed up the direction/strategy following the GB debacle. We arent winning (or even realistically trying) in 2025, due to Jerry's failings in 2024, which includes Dak's contract and not trading away those with 1 year left on the contract (J-Lew, Osa, Martin and D-Law).

If you dont have a difference making QB, then a second elite contract (with the added deferred CAP hits), makes it difficult.....SF are preparing for Purdy's first, where he's expected to step up and earn the money.

I’m not faulting the Cowboys for not winning a SB. I’m faulting them for their approach. Daks salary cap hits have not stopped them from making moves. The guy was on a cheap rookie deal and I get Romo deal was still on the books some of those years but it’s still an excuse.
