I was wondering if someone would be kind enough to list for me, or provide me with a link to a list of all of the 08 free agents that the Cowboys will have, whether they are restricted or unrestricted as well?

Thanks in advance!

I didn't see the Barbarian on the list either.

Though, I have a feeling we'll be heading into 2008 without Flo or Hamlin. Both are going to cost too much.

Hamlin's played great, but his Pro Bowl birth may have just priced him out of our range. I think Watkins is ready to step into the FS spot.

I'll tell you what worries me the most about losing Flo.....

Leonard Davis at LT.

Jerry has said a few times that Davis would be able to spell Flo. I really hope our front brass realizes how good LD is at guard. I'd rather see us use Free or McQ at LT than move LD.

I agree. The Cards' experiment with LD at LT didn't pan out. He's proved his worth as a guard.

Would LT be a spot we could fill through the draft with someone Tony Ugoh-ish? Don't know if someone can be had who's that good that late in the draft. One mock draft did have us taking an OT from BC. Can't remember the name.

We got two guys right now who are considered good prospects at LT- McQ and Free.

The current list of our UFA and RFA are this:

Flozell Adams - LT - UFA
We probably offer him a three year deal at around $5 million a year. With McQ and Free standing by, doubt we break the bank for him.

Patrick Crayton - WR - UFA
We will resign him but not at starting money and probably a 5 year deal, possibly this week. Jerry indicated that one player had agreed to terms, so expect it to be either Hamlin or Crayton or Barber.

Keith Davis - SS - UFA
Will be offered a contract but not sure if he wants to test the market first.

Ken Hamlin - FS - UFA
He will resign probably for a contract similar to Roy Williams contract.

Nate Jones - CB - UFA
Only be offered a minimum deal if that.

Cory Procter - OG/OC - UFA
Will try to resign but bet is that he will test the market.

Jacques Reeves - CB - UFA
Will try to keep him but not if the price goes to high. Bet on us trying to get Trufant or Samuels in FA.

Tyson Thompson - RB - UFA
Doubt his return at all

Marion Barber - RB - RFA
He will be extended before we need to tender him, if for some reason not, he will get the 1st and 3rd round tenders

Chris Canty - DE - RFA
He will be extended before we need to tender him, if for some reason not, he will get the 1st and 3rd round tenders

Remember if our still $5 mil under the cap for this year so expect two or three guys to sign over the next couple of weeks. We are also a projected $23 mil under the cap for 2008 (Adam probably knows much more) so it will be no problem resigning our own guys and two or three other tean FAs.

I believe the ability to put extensions onto this years cap passed a month or so ago.

Nope. Some people in the media mistakenly think there's an early deadline for adding cap charges to this season, but it can be done right up until the final game. The only deadline is for increasing a player's base salary for this season. After a certain date, any increase in base salary for the current season is treated like a signing bonus and is prorated. But there are lots of ways to add to this year's cap after that deadline, including extending a player's contract and giving him a signing bonus.

And here's our list of potential UFAs and RFAs, as of right now --

Flozell Adams (UFA)
Ken Hamlin (UFA)
Keith Davis (UFA)
Patrick Crayton (UFA)
Jacques Reeves (UFA)
Nate Jones (UFA)
Julius Jones (UFA)
Marion Barber (RFA)
Chris Canty (RFA)
Tyson Thompson (RFA)
Joe Berger (RFA)
L.P. Ladouceur (RFA)

I don't think a pro bowl birth will ruin our chance to re-sign him. And Watkins is definitely not at Hamlin's level.

True, but Hamlin is going to want big bucks. $5 mil a year?

Flo is NOT going to sign for $5 mil a year when the going rate for a starting LT is about $10 mil.

So Flo and Hamlin = $15 mil. Economics is going to play a part in our signing decisions.

There comes a time when we need to cut ties with age and move on with youth. We have young players ready in Free and Watkins ... and their salaries combined isn't $1.5 mil.

We're also going to need money to sign some quality depth as well.

Thanks. I had always heard that there was a final date for getting new SB money counted to this years cap.

How does anyone know Free is ready? He may be, and he may not. Same with McQ. You really shouldn't leave your $67M blindside protected by someone who has started exactly 0 games.

And please, please, please Jerry, don't move Davis out to LT. He's an all-Pro guard and proved to be a very average tackle.

Hamlin is young and I truly think it will be regretted if the Cowboys don't re-sign him. As far as Flozell goes he's getting old and I think the Cowboys should treat it the same way as Larry Allen...he might have a good year or two left OR he could be the next Marco Rivera and when you think he has some good years left his body breaks down. He has already had his knee issues and just think, these young guys aren't hard of hearing so that eliminates at least 1 false start penalty per game.

The question is how many sacks a game are the young guys good for? We know Flo isn't good for giving up many of those, unless he breaks down here soon. Theres no sign of that right now.

I suspect any contract we sign him to will be somewhat cap friendly toward us.

We can't hang on to old meat forever. There comes a time when we MUST move on. We've made the mistake of holding onto aging vets too long.

We need to do two things ... get younger and get cheaper. Flo accomplishes neither of those two.

I think Flo's around 33 years old.

I think he could play at a high level for around 2 more years.

All-Pro LTs, protecting the franchise's blind side, don't grow on trees.
