All,

Just looking through the FA class and there seem to be quite a few interesting guys available and we really need to make something happen:

Patrick Robinson- Over 30 but played great last year.
Prince Amukamara-
Trey Boston- Good coverage guy.
Kenny Vaccaro- Was injured part of the year. Could be a bargain guy

Austin Seferian Jenkins-
Trey Burton- Eagles will not resign him, cant play above Ertz

Trent Murphy- Could be had cheap coming off an injury
Dion Lewis- NE cant resign everyone
Rex Burkhead- NE cant resign everyone

Navarro Bowman- We need all the LB's we can get.
Sammy Watkins- Offer him a prove it deal.

- I worry about Robinson. Philly plays a different style of defense than we do and worry he wouldn't be nearly as effective in what we are doing.

- I like Boston and Vaccaro as I am all about upgrading S. Vaccaro might be a bit pricey though.

- I could live with either TE at the right price

- I hope to see us in the mix for some vet OGs and swing OTs. If they think they will just use the draft to fix those holes, that's a mistake.

- I am kind of curious to see what happens with Watkins. Remember, last year the WR market fizzled and guys like Jeffrey and Pryor ended up signing one year, fairly team friendly deals. I wonder if Watkins will find himself in a similar situation. Honestly, given what we have at WR, I'd be all over Paul Richardson from Seattle.

Donte Moncrief
Andre Smith
Kony Ealy

Ealy always seems to be linked to us. And I don't know why. He's never lived up to the hype and was pretty awful last year.

Would love Smith and Moncrief. Smith seems like a perfect fit. Can play both OT spots and is familiar with our new OL coach.

When I see free agent lists I never see two of our biggest needs listed
We don’t have a starting LG
Now that may be a spot we can fill in the draft but since he will start day one I think it would need to be a top 3 rnd pick
We don’t have a swing tackle
Not a fan of filling the swing tackle with a rookie in a draft that’s not real deep at starter quality tackles and ask them to be able to man two spots

I'll add mine:

Preston Brown - ILB (25, led NFL in tackles)
Josh Kline - OG (average guard that would be an upgrade over Cooper)
Cameron Fleming - OT (25, Pats back-up tackle, might be too expensive after he preformed well in spot duty).

Moncrief, Butler and Bowman would fit the bill for me but I doubt we would add a name corner. My only thought there is if the report is true we were interested in T.J maybe we would take a look at Butler. He would be cheaper and is still only 28 or so.

This place is going to be rioting in about a week.

Bowman is worth a look. I don't see any others on this list being an upgrade over what we have. Maybe one of the safeties but I think they are both gambles.

I would be happy with any of Burton, Bowman, Vaccaro, Moncrief, Brown, and Smith. My biggest hope is a trade for Thomas.

That being said, I seriously doubt the Cowboys sign any of them and Thomas is a pipe dream.

SJ said after the draft that if we hadn't traded up for DLAW that we would have taken Ealy with our 2nd and Trai Turner with our 3rd. That's probably why he keeps getting linked to us.

Free Agents we are likely to sign
1. Any player over 30 after July 31st that is willing to have an incentive contract.
2. A player under 30 with "upside" and a history of off field issues at an incentive contract.
3. Someone coming off an injury filled past that needs another chance, a bonus if they play LB to replace our oft injured Sean Lee.
4. Our own players because "we are so close" with what we already have at 9-7 last year.

I wanted to leave G & OT's off the table as I feel we do a good job drafting, and we still have to pay the president "Martin" this year.

Much more likely than most lists
Fills needs and that’s what they tend to do in FA is fill those must have needs

Burton at TE would be a guy that has a skill set that no one else has, other than maybe Gathers.

But I think he's going to find a fairly bullish market for him and likely out of our price range for a backup TE, especially if they are hell bent on paying Witten close to $7MM this year.

I think the exact opposite. For one, can you trust swing tackle to a rookie? Two, a vet OG is an immediate plug and play. You have no idea what you are going to get out of a rookie OG. The notion that I have to use my first or second round pick on an OG doesn't please me either.

The smart move is bring in two vet OL and then draft a couple of development guys. So a guy like Andre Smith from Cincy would be smart as a swing OT, maybe even working at OG. And then guards, I look at a guy like Slauson from San Diego or as noted above, Kline. Solid vets, at cheaper costs and you can draft a developmental OG.

But I don't expect us to be smart.
