I think that Gerald Sensabaugh should be moved to FS, help the defense with the proper alignment. He has the right combination of size/speed and the experience for the switch. If Sensabaugh was to be moved there then Church could take over at SS and the Cowboys defense would become a bigger and more physical unit.

I've thought that as well, but after the game today, I have a couple of questions about that. One, does Sensebaugh have enough speed? I've seen times when he looked pretty slow back there. Two, can Church improve significantly from what we saw today? He'll have to. Dude looked rough. I like Church, but I think he's too slow to be a starting safety. Maybe a nickel LB at some point, or on short yardage situations.

We would be more physical, but we'd also be much slower. Considering how important the passing game is currently in the NFL I don't think that would be a good move.

Stick with Ball at FS, then try to upgrade in the offseason.

Sensabaugh is good at defending a TE or RB running a drag. He has the physical ability to cover a WR of faster TE, but not the technical. He gets caught not turning his head or throwing his hands up too often.

Both our safeties could be made better

I doubt the starting FS for this club in 2011 is on the roster.

And no it's not Ken Hamlin... Sorry Theo.

I can't figure out why we've ignored this position so much. Safety has been a need since Woody retired.

Hmm looking at the prospects coming out in this 2011 draft... Dallas should have drafted a safety in 2010.

Newman to safety perhaps?

I doubt he would make it through the season. Heck, at CB he can't stay healthy. Playing safety would be too physical for him IMO.

No no no to Newman at safety. Just like every college DE isn't automatically an OLB in 3-4, ever CB is not a possible safety.

This has been a huge problem for us for the past decade.

I think S has to be the teams top priority in the draft. I think the poor safety play is primarily responsible for the D's poor performance this year. Ball and Sensi have been terrible. That is putting it nicely.

Trade down, get some picks, take a safety and then work on the o-line. What do u guys think?

I think Newman can pad up and play free safety. Yes I worry about his injuries, but he's already injured alot, so what's the diff? I know his corner play has definitely declined (still think nagging injuries are taking a toll)...

Can't Sensy just make the alignment calls from SS position? I recall hearing that Kosier makes a lot of OLine calles from LG, why can't it be the same in the secondary?

As for Newman to FS...the guy has poor ball skills as a corner. How could he be a ball-hawk FS?

It wasn't an issue from 2006 to 2009.

I second this. I really hope AOA is the answer at FS, he has great speed, high football IQ, and ok size. Honestly don't know how good of a tackler he is since we didnt see much of him this year. But as it stands now I hope we target a safety, a real safety (not a CB we hope can play S) in the 2nd-3rd round this coming draft.

Eh...AOA is a project...I got nothing against him but we need to be realistic and bring in some blue chip safety prospects. No more Justin Beriaults, Pat Watkins, Michael Hamlins, DeAngelo Smiths, etc.

I'm not even concerned with CB anymore. Prince and Peterson will be gone...bring in a new DC and new DB coach and I think Jenkins and Scandrick, along with McCann will be solid for the future...maybe even AOA too. Safety is a bigger need, we need to answer that in the first 3 rounds

What an oddly specific series of years... I wonder why you choose those particular years? :D
