I know the guy has traditionally been known as a bit of a liability against the run but I say let him work through that on the field. We have a solid enough linebacker corps to be able to mask that deficiency. I have been smitten with the guy ever since he came in and totally owned a series a few years ago. His ability to get to the QB would be an excellent compliment to DWare. I would rather take my chances on a guy giving 110% rather than dealing with absorbing another pedestrian season with Spencer on that edge. I hope this is the year that the staff takes a chance on VBut.

Liked Butler. Also like putting pressure on starters to perform or lose their jobs. Also think Spencer is still way better than Butler.

Butler has certainly improved his arsenal of pass rushing moves. On one play, he was playing off the left tackle, ball snapped, he gave a arm fake to the tackle an instance before rushing, the tackle took the fake high, he dipped beneath the tackles exposed shoulder and got pass him. It was so darn smooth that ESPN replayed it in slo-mo. Maybe someone will post the video. If not, I'll try doing so--perfaps early this evening.

No way Butler gets cut. Isn't his biggest weakness run support? He's always been a pretty good rusher.

Isn't this said every year about Butler....then nothing....not bad play, but never rises to expectations either.

I think it's time to truly change the modus operandi and begin to take a bit of a longer look at some of these "potential" guys. Just like Barry Church, Butler should get a long hard look in the preseason.

Hell no...not with Spencer the Money Man getting paid to be a beast! If anything, we might see more of 93

Every time we give him an actual shot so far he comes up small.

He's a preseason warrior.

Not really...he's made tons of plays in the regular season when given the opportunity, especially in the clutch. Against Carolina on MNF his rookie season, he had a few sacks. The same year at Philly on SNF, it was 4th down I think and McNabb had a huge opening upfield to run for a first down but Butler got just enough of him to bring him down and end the game.

Then last season at Washington, the Commanders had the ball at around the 30-yard line, in FG range and Grossman was scrambling out of the pocket until Butler forced him to go out of bounds, losing a few yards for that FG (which they missed and we went to OT)

Well, if I recall correctly, his per snap numbers are pretty good, but it's hard to say that's not due to him only seeing time in passing downs.

Still, I think Hamilton shows more promise.
