That is incorrect. If you look at the Patriots, they have a 4M cap hit of dead-money for Mankins in 2015. He was traded in Aug 2014.

OTC agrees with you, but I've also seen specifically where it says that the dead money accelerates automatically, must have been mistaken, because everything I look at now says trades post june work as you suggested.

There are so many options right now that it makes my head spin. They could start him out at Guard where he would probably start on opening day, or they could move him to RT and let him sit behind Free while he masters the protection schemes. Lost in all of this is Chaz Green. That dude will end up being a player in this league once he gets an offseason in the weight room.

Yes. It would still cost us millions over the next two seasons to cut/trade him while it would cost us nothing to do the same with Leary.

Now, I'm not for trading either yet (unless we get an offer that knocks our socks off) because we don't know how health will go, but near the end of camp, we might can get good value for Leary, and with Bernadeau as the backup, I think the trade value would outweigh the difference in backup value.

If Collins beats out Free, I can't see us doing anything with Free until at least next year. Ultimately, I think it will be Green who takes Free's spot when the time comes unless injury forces us to put Collins there now.
