I will probably get killed for saying this but Free is NOT a left tackle. He is just too damn slow to be going up against top tier defensive linemen week in and out. They gave him help early in the season, but the last few weeks he has been on his own more and you see people blowing right by him before he barely gets out of his stance.

He needs to be moved back to RT in my opinion and they have to find a quality LT moving forward.

Agreed - I believe people have been so desperate to see this team develop a homegrown offensive lineman that they bought into the Free hype all offseason. He's not terrible but he's not cutting it at LT. On the line as a whole, it's so bad that he's one of the least of our problems, but we still need to look for a replacement.

He did get bet bad at times today and has missed some blocks all togather this season but he is not my consurn on the OL

I've seen nothing from him to warrant being moved to right tackle. We'll have a easier time finding a right tackle than a left. And Free to his credit has been solid. I'd imagine he'll only get better from here on out with experience.

Free's job at LT isn't guaranteed next year, because the new staff is going to evaluate him, imo.

This team needs more athletic players like Doug Free on it's offensive line, imo.

He's a free agent, too.

If we are going to have to use a high draft choice or pay a FA. Why not get a high quality LT and move Free back to RT?

I really think it would be a big mistake to sign this guy to a long term deal this off season paying him LT money.

Would Free fetch big LT money offers from another team? This is an interesting dilemma. I do know that teams typically don't use a top-10 pick on a RT so if we do re-sign Free and go OL in the 1st round, it will definitely be Gurode or Leonard Davis' replacement

I like Free but he looked bad against the speed guys, hopefully we spend that 1st rounder on a franchise LT and can move Free to RT. The way it looks, we need to spend at least 2 or 3 picks on linemen in the draft and get a great safety cause Ball is useless.

need to wait for Hoss to once again say the staff think Free is the guy.

I disagree that he's not a LT in this league, but we need a RT and you usually don't draft OT's in the top 10 with the idea of putting them at RT permanently. So we could have Free play LT for 2011 and the rook play RT and then switch them if we feel the rook is ready.

Problem is that Jerry is just dead set against drafting O-Line in the first round.

Agree with everyone. Put him at RT next year. Draft a LT. We'll be in position to get the best one, more than likely.
