Have you ever been in a situation where credit was due and not given? How did it make you feel? I used to work at an office supply store and my boss was someone who felt every good idea was his. The show room was arranged a certain way. One day Chris and I decided to re-arrange the show room. Now this could easily have meant when he got there we had to put everything back. Not going to lie, what we did worked awesome. But knowing him as we did, when he walked in and asked what we were doing Chris piped up, "you mentioned wanting to see all the art deco furniture in one area, so we wanted to see how it would look. I think this really works." To which he replied, "See, I was right." I was more amused than anything else because it was Chris and I 100% who had wanted to do that. We sold a lot more furniture that way.

Henry O. Flipper, the first Black graduate from West Point. I want to pick his brain and find out how he was able to do what he did in the face of crushing adversity.

I have not been involved in something that horrible, fortunately, yet I always ensured that I gave credit to my Soldiers where it was due, particularly where it helped make a mission a huge success.

My old battalion commander, however, liked to tout every idea presented by his subordinate officers as his own when he briefed the Brigade Commander. He was always the smartest man in the room - just ask him. I have heard from sources that it still eats him up that I was selected for the Army's legal training program...to that I feel somewhat sad - I have never measured my success based on someone else's achievements.

Not much of anything - relax with family, continue workouts for the summer/off-season for my adult basketball leagues, and try not to miss this new girl I'm seeing too much - she's in Colorado for the weekend visiting her sister.
