I watched Michael Bay's remake of Friday the 13th last night, and I must say, it was by far the best of the series. This is hardly a ringing endorsement. It's akin to being the best smelling trash dump.

The plot is predictable, and the characters are intellectually inept at an inconceivable level. However, the acting is decent, and the storytelling and pacing are better than the previous films.

I must warn you, however. If you are not fan of Michael Bay, do not see this film. Any tendencies Bay has as a filmmaker and a cinematographer are magnified tenfold in this picture--the needless closeups and that particular lens of which he is fond.

Lowbrow horror, but a decent slasher flick.

I just don't know how many more times Jason can die.

Technically, this film isn't a sequel. It's a reboot.

But, yeah, I get your point.;)

how many explosions did this movie have?

There's a raging fire scene, but I wouldn't describe it as an explosion. I'll say none, which is unusual for a Bay film.

Good catch.

That's because Bay didn't direct the film. He was the producer. Same for the TCM remake.

Pearl Harbor. Armageddon.
Ugh. Not a Michael Bay fan.

I notice, he's also the Producer for A Nightmare on Elm Street. Hollywood has become the equivalent of a cover band: unable to concoct something original, so the next step is to mimic others.

For some reason I have a dozen cable channels, all highlighting the failure of art in cinema.

Where is today's Stanley Kubrick?

If there's no blood or violence, I'm in.

You're in luck! No blood and violence in the film at all. It has been replaced with boobies! Lots and lots of boobies...

...Boobies man, boobies!
