From an Eagles' Board

I agree that our WR corp could be upgraded. But you still haven't heard from a very credible sports source about the effectiveness/ineffectiveness of the Eagles offense.

Igglephan merely has drawn attention to the strength of the Eagles defense. My question would be to ask you ...do you really believe that teams will demonstrate their best in an "open" training camp forum? Look for timing, clean routes and basic fundamental components, ...not the 70 yard touchdown reception.

This is only Training Camp.

BTW, did you seep the possiblility of the Eagles obtaining Lelie, or Porter. How reliable is that bit of Igglesphan trivia? You'd just Better Hope the Eagles defense isn't as effective against your offense.

Phoenix-Talon, is the "G Cobb" that's mentioned as the reporter in that post former Eagles and Cowboys linebacker Gary Cobb by any chance?

I will definitely be watching the WRs closely in the HOF game. Unfortunately, it's preseason so even if they do well I'm going to be skeptical. It's an area of unknowns to be sure, but also a group that has potential. That's what you get sometimes.

The very same ...

I would be ok with the Eagles Wr's, if they had a truly great running back. You can't get away with those lame WR's with an average running game. I still say their biggest mistake was not going after one of those top running backs last season when they had all those draft picks to bargain with.

They may be a play off team, but I think their Superbowl contending window has closed.

That's my understanding, I'll research further.

The Eagles should get both Porter and Lelie.. the problem is that they would need to trade a Dlineman probably.. since that's where their depth seems to be.

I think Porter is the better of the two for them.. I think Lelie is soft.. so i hope they trade for lelie instead... because I think he'll be cheaper. Lelie is a number two.. Porter at least has some size and strength to him.

The Eagles trading for Porter would be a clear and obvious sign of desperation. He's the antithesis of an "Andy Reid-type" player.

He wants out of Oakland because Shell is running a tight ship after several years of the inmates running the asylum.

Sounds like we all know who the head "inmate" was?

If the Eagles traded for this headcase it would be another Owens type situation for them again.

In my opinion, it's Lelie or nothing and I'm not sure Lelie is all that better than Pinkston. (although it sounds like he's a lot healthier)

The Eagles had the chance at Javon Walker and - surprise - they blew it!

Everyone wants to make the big deal of Mcflabb being so happy now that TO is gone, and not the fact he has no receivers to play with..
