From Grizz -- Leftover random thoughts from last night's game

Just took below article from bloggingtheboys.com. Gives entirely different viewpoint on Cowboys' poor defensive performance. Sure explains a lot & hopefully at least Burnett returns which should help out at LB position. Also if Cowboys do bring Remi Ayodele back and he plays well enough to frequently substitute for Ratliff at NT, it will free up Ratliff to provide pressure on the QB at either outside DE position -- something that neither Spears nor Canty provided last night.

From Grizz:

I’m working my way through the film review, but Mondays are so busy the day after a game, I don’t know if I’ll finish it tonight. It may be delayed until tomorrow morning. But here are some other observations:
A lot of people were noticing that the Cowboys defense looked gassed. They probably were. I didn’t see Kevin Burnett play on defense, Bobby Carpenter only made cameo appearances and Justin Rogers didn’t play on defense. So that means that DeMarcus Ware, Anthony Spencer, Bradie James and Akin Ayodele played virtually the whole game. Throw in Jason Ferguson’s injury that shortened the line rotation and you had some tired guys out there.
I think it’s time for Jason Hatcher to get some more time at DE, Marcus Spears continues to play the quietest DE in NFL history. Let’s switch in Hatcher for some quality time. I don’t want to move Spears inside to NT; considering how poorly he’s play at end, I don’t want him manning the middle of our 3-4 defense.
Roy Williams' play in the secondary is still predictably bad. In other news, Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead. Wade tried to cover for Roy in the press conference, but in doing so, inadvertently highlighted that he thought Roy had a bad game.

I didn't hear it that way.

JFE asked a question about if we were utilitzing Roy the way we wanted and Wade said that the Giants couldn't run against us with Roy in there.

JFE then comes back with the coverage responsibilities on the TD, how would Wade analyze Roy's play and added something to the affect 'Roy always tells us media that we don't know what we are talking about, we don't know who is fault in coverage'.

Wade immediately says 'You guys don't, the media doesn't know anything about their coverages', then goes on to say that the media isn't going to get him to say any of his players were bad.

That to me doesn't mean he thinks Roy was bad, but that he was telling the media despite what they think and try to twist their questions, he isn't going to call out a guy to the media. If he had just said that 'I thought Roy played well', then JFE would be asking 'So it wasn't his fault in the coverage' etc.

Like I said, it sounded more like he was putting those types of questions to rest, but his comments still got twisted.

After listening to it, I had that impression too. Doesn't mean Roy was suddenly good, but I don't think anyone was thrown under the bus.

Amazing. On someone else's film, RW wasn't bad.

I need to rewatch the game. Maybe we can get him up to pro bowl level again if we watch it enough.

Grow up. Please.

No one is saying Roy was suddenly great last night. Some of us just choose to look at the defense as a whole. And in this situation, it was kind of interesting to see how Wade's comments were being used to crucify Roy, when that isn't exactly what he said.

Interesting take. It certainly didn't come off that way in Grizz's recap. I guess that's a lesson learned in trusting recaps to be unbiased.

I didn't think Wade was suggesting that Roy was bad, either. It's just that it was obvious that LBOH was fishing for Roy criticism, and Wade said he wasn't going to do that.
