Positives.

Little appreciated, but worth mentioning. McBriar's net punting average of 47.5 yards.

His second punt including the return was a 50 yard change of field position. It was a 64 yarder with a 14 yard return.

Nick Folk. Rookie kicker made all the kicks. It wasn't a challenging situation for him with a 50 yard kick to win the game, but we all still remember Cortez don't we?

We had a 4.7 yard rushing average in the game today for a total of 142 yards.

Average gain per pass play was 13.4 yards.

Negatives.

Ward rushing for 89 yards and a 6.8 yard per carry average.

Giants Red Zone efficiency was 75% today. I was under the impression that we were going to be disruptive with this defence. Newman or no Newman. I don't think Wade had a corner of T-New's calibre in San Diego. The blitzes seemed off and certainly didn't register on the game book as stats.

On Thompson's fumble Tony Curtis and Jay Ratliff were forming the left side of the wedge when Curtis whiffed on his block of Johnson leading to the turnover.

One question I had was with respect to a play by Spencer.

The play where he slammed Manning to the ground, wasn't that a sack?

(I was looking at the stats for Spencer on sportsline.com, and there was no sack attributed to Spencer.)

No it wasn't a sack. I think Eli had gotten rid of the ball just as he was being tackled.

Ahhhh . . . . that would explain it.

Spencer also lost a sack and a FF when he killed Eli on the 2 point try.

That's the play I was talking about earlier in the thread.

Wasn't that a sack on the 2 point try? Or did Eli throw it away in time?

It's recorded as a failed try...nothing else.
