Thought this maybe deserved its own thread.

Two things - he's lobbying a little for the kickoff role - which would be helpful if he could rightfully win that spot. frees up a roster spot so coveted by BP.

the quotes are pretty interesting though: "he couldn't admit he was wrong" vandy says about BP..? what a great way to start things off with your new head coach.

BP is Bill Polian. GM of the Colts.

Bill being referrred to is Polian not Parcells. However, Vandy doesn't sound like he wants to kickoff. Quite the team player.

Vanderjagt the kickoff man
Kicker Mike Vanderjagt said he does not want to kick off.

However, "From an ego standpoint, I would rather do it than having some guy come in and say, 'Well, Vanderjagt can't do it so we have to bring in a guy,'" Vanderjagt said. "Kickoffs are a no-win situation. It's a thankless job."

Vanderjagt kicked off for special-teams coach Bruce DeHaven last week, and DeHaven told Vanderjagt, "It's doable."

Vanderjagt sounds annoyed that he was labeled incapable of kicking off by Indianapolis Colts president Bill Polian a few years ago.

"Bill brought in a dozen guys that didn't kick off any better than I did," Vanderjagt said. "He just got in too deep and couldn't admit he was wrong."

Vanderjagt asked Cowboys coach Bill Parcells to decide whether he could kick off and not let any reputation decide it. Parcells has said he would let Vanderjagt try.

Historically, Parcells has not wanted to use a kickoff specialist.
