As someone who doesn't post here a whole bunch I wanted to address some of my thoughts regarding this draft! I know I will get a little of the "business" for starting yet another thread, but it is a play to my vanity (jk) and if the staff here thinks it should be moved to another location I am down with that!

Okay so we have some confusion here about what we saw over the weekend, and I hope to lend my brand of clarity to the situation. Now I do not profess to be clairvoyant, but I think there are a few things that are being either misrepresented or intentionally ignored about the weekends events.

Lets start with the Jerry statement regarding this draft and its affect on the future cap, etc. It amazes me that everyone has missed the nose on their face on this one. Greg Ellis, love him or hate him, makes almost seven million against the cap this year. Now because I, like Bobby Knight, have no crystal ball, I can not say whether he will be on this roster when the Cowboys open on the road in week one. I can say for certain that his contract runs out after this season for sure, and common sense says either he will be no where near that worth, in which case he will be released at the end of training camp, or he will have a double digit sack year, which would be helpful for this defense at current and then would be priced out of range for the future in which case you need inexpensive contributors to replace ANTHONY SPENCERS past productivity and you bank on your prior NUMBER ONE PICK, Spencer to exceed Ellis productivity. This is a concept that is a bit deeper than fans normally want to dig. Please I am not pointing a finger and speaking negatively about anyone in particular, just stating an obersavation.

Paraphrasing Jerry, "We are looking to avoid paying some of the more expensive parts of some guys contract." Clearly Ellis, among others, needs to understand the financial and football driven decisions of the Cowboys Braintrust,or bainpaint or something! So now I ask, doesnt the pick of Victor Butler and Branden Williams make more sense now? Oh and a quick note on these two, both of them led their conference in sacks. Two pretty good conferences too. Oh yea and Brian Orakpo, you know that flashy guy that got taken because we didnt have a first thanks to Roy Williams, was in Branden Williams conference. Orakpo 10.5, Williams 12! Book by the cover boys, book and its cover!

Now that Ive got your attention let me finish up here real quick with this note: I really and honestly don't give a rip whether its Alan Ball or Mike Mickens, Ken or Mike Hamlin, Deangelo Smith or Pat Watkins, John Phillips or Rodney Hannah, Greg Ellis or Victor Butler. Why? Because I know that here in Dallas, the best player makes the roster. What I do love though, is Alan Ball, Pat Watkins, Sam Hurd, Bobby Carpenter, And a slew of the backups here, as well as, some starters (see Ellis and Sensebaugh) will have to GET BETTER or GET GONE!

Therein lies the beauty of this draft, and while I know its further beneath the surface than we armchairs want to dig, it is the fast track to restoring peace and quiet to the lockerroom so that the guys who really will make the biggest difference in Dallas returning to glory (See Romo, RW, Barber, Demarcus, TNEW, et al) can focus on getting that job done and not wasting an afternoon talking to muckraking jerkweeds like Ed Turder!

Decaf is fine, deep breaths will help, and hopefully this little trip to the center of the lollipop will help some find the yummy tootsie roll at its center!

I find it nearly impossible to not bite into a tootsie roll pop. Is that a type A thing or just a tootsie roll thing? And I don't read enough anymore. Too easy to watch the movie after downloading it on Vuze. And I agree with the rest of the stuff although not nearly as entertaining as the tootsie roll pop.
