For the first time in 14 games running back Tashard Choice did not get a carry. Marion Barber led the Cowboys with 14 carries for 47 yards and Felix Jones had eight carries for 37 yards in his return from a two-game absence because of a torn knee ligament.

** Because of uncertain weather conditions expected later Sunday afternoon, Cowboys Stadium's roof was closed
** Rookie linebacker Victor Butler took a few snaps in the third quarter to spell DeMarcus Ware
** With three field goal attempts, Nick Folk has 66 on his career, passing Ken Willis and Efren Herrera for eighth-most in franchise history
** Wade Phillips gave the players Monday off. A "Victory Monday" drew a huge cheer from the locker room, able to be heard in the hallways.

damnit Wade!!!!:bang2: :bang2:

Not a surprise here. This is common practice across the NFL. Although, I wouldn't expect a lowly blogger to know that.

He did, however, have one reception for 23 yards. Nothing like selective reporting for the sake of implied drama.

How is that implied drama? The guy didn't get a touch in the backfield. Considering how iffy MB is, it's at least noteworthy.

He led with it in the piece. That spot is reserved for the biggest thing you have. Noteworthy is when you include the stat after the rest of the actual plays.

By leading with it, he's basically asking for people to work themselves into a lather over it because Choice has proven himself to be a great back and should get his touches.

Sorry, don't see it. Sometimes offense is given, sometimes, you gotta take it, and I think maybe you're taking something here that really wasn't offered. I mean the damn column is called "Odds and Ends", not "Life Altering Dramatic Developments".

We have one healthy back and two returning from injuries.

Guess which one didn't receive a carry?

That is news to me, as happy as I am with the first complete game form the team in forever, how on earth did Tashard Choice not tote the ball a single time?

I guess I should have seen it coming, Wade Phillips did say he had earned a role on offense during the bye.

'Victory Monday' sends the wrong message

October 25, 2009, 9:23 PM

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Whenever teams earn big wins on a Sunday, coaches usually give their teams the next day off. It's called "Victory Monday."

The Cowboys earned their first big win of the season, a 37-21 victory over Atlanta. It marked the first time this year that the Cowboys had defeated a team with a winning record.

So instead of bringing in players for a light workout and to watch videotape of the previous game, coach Wade Phillips gave the team a day off.

It sends the wrong message. Phillips should have brought his players in to workout Monday.

Just because the team won Sunday, it doesn't mean things are fine. Offensive coordinator Jason Garrett said there are corrections to be made on offense. And the defense, as good as it played, allowed Falcons backup running back Jason Snelling to average 9.7 yards per carry.

Miles Austin had a good game with two touchdowns, yet he fumbled a ball out of bounds on his way to the end zone. Roy Williams had two drops, and the offensive line struggled to open holes at the start of the game.

Not to be negative, here, but the Cowboys didn't clinch a playoff berth or anything like that.

There's nothing wrong with rewarding the team with a day off, Calvin Watkins even admitted it was routine in the NFL to do so following big wins.

I've no doubt a lot of players will come in anyway.

But the coaches can work the team hard on Wednesday and the rest of the week.

Big wins in the NFL get you monday off.

Wade gave them a day off like every other NFL coach

Something I found interesting.

Jerry came out during warmups and walked right down to ware getting stretched and talked to him for about 10 minutes. The only person I have seen him do this to is barber. It was odd.

It went something like this...Jerry: "Hey DeMarcus, how you doin' today? Say, I've been thinking....if you want to get paid, how about you go get me 2 sacks and a forced fumble today."

Demarcus: "...uhhh, sure Mr. Jones, no problem...make the checks payable to D-WARE."

Jerry must only do this to players with foot injuries. Maybe Jerry has some sick foot injury fetish.

Hopefully congratulating him over the deal they agreed to

Or maybe he had some expert pass-rush tips to pass on.
