DMN: Man robs bank and then is robbed of stolen cash

When Arlington police found Larry Poulos walking in his apartment complex with a bleeding head injury, he told them he had just been robbed, federal court records show.

What Poulos didn’t tell them was that the robbers took cash he had just stolen after robbing a credit union about 100 yards away, according to court records.

Federal court records describe the following series of events:

On Tuesday, Poulos walked into the Educational Employees Credit Union on Southgate Street in Arlington and handed a teller a deposit slip with the word “bomb” written on the back.

The teller at first thought it was a joke but then realized it was a robbery when she looked at Poulos. He handed her a plastic bag while keeping his other hand at his waist, “leading her to believe that he had a bomb or some other weapon.”

She gave him the bag filled with money and he left. Police arrived and noticed from the surveillance video that Poulos wore a white T-shirt that said “I (heart symbol) TX” on the front.

At the time, someone called police to report seeing a man running through the Arbor Terrace apartment complex behind the bank holding a bag with money coming out of it.

That’s when they saw Poulos, who was wearing the same T-shirt. He told them he had just been robbed. He was arrested after being treated for minor injuries.

Police went to the apartment and arrested Poulos’ roommate on an unrelated warrant. He was not named. At the jail, the roommate told police that Poulos, who he knew as Chino, was staying with him for a couple of days.

The roommate said that shortly after Poulos returned to the apartment, two men walked inside. After a “commotion,” the men ran out of the apartment “carrying handfuls of money.”

A witness reported seeing the two suspects standing outside the apartment smoking cigarettes before the robbery. They were with a man who lives in the apartment.

The roommate told police that Poulos had told him on Saturday that he “felt like robbing a bank.”

Awesome, sounds like it could be a good sequel to the movie "Friday". It seems like something Craig and Smokey would do :)
