In other football news, Bill Parcells is running the Dolphins now and is rumored to be maneuvering to hire Dallas Cowboys offensive line coach Tony Sparano as Miami's head coach. That rumor could turn out to be wrong, but if it's true, the move would be consistent with a Parcells pattern -- wishing ill against the clubs he leaves. When Parcells quit the Giants, he did so in April, when the in-demand coaches already had signed elsewhere. Parcells seemed to want Jersey/A to tumble from a Super Bowl win to a losing season, so people would say, "That Bill Parcells must be a genius, look what happened after he left." Parcells walked out on the New England Patriots just after a Super Bowl, leaving disarray, and walked out on Jersey/B, leaving the weirdness of his former acolyte Bill Belichick resigning as head coach less than an hour after being named. In each case, the Tuna seemed to want to ensure the franchise he had just departed would head downward, causing people to say losing Parcells was a calamity.
Now Parcells has a problem -- since he left Dallas a year ago, the Cowboys have been playing much better. Dallas won the No. 1 seed and has flourished under Wade Phillips, whom everyone likes but no one considers a genius. Should the Cowboys win the Super Bowl the year after Parcells' departure, people will say, "Man, Dallas really benefited from getting rid of that grumpy sourpuss Parcells." Perhaps this is a prospect Parcells cannot abide -- so he's trying to put his tentacles into the Dallas coaching staff, hoping to disrupt the current Boys' run.

Or perhaps this is all just a diabolical plan by Parcells to actually improve the team he signed up to oversee, by bringing in an organizational structure and employees that he's familiar with?

Or it could be something far more sinister. Like NAMBLA.

Oh, boy.

Get the pitchforks, Parcells Crew! :p:

actually I like parcells, alot, but I do see him as a vindictve jerk. He only cares about himself and his own legacy. Look how upset he was when his staff left the jets and didnt take the job he wanted them too. It lingered for a long time.

After seeing what he did to new england by taking the entire coaching staff and then curtis martin, how could anyone say he doesnt.

Leaving the giants in april though was a health issue, so that is unfair the guy had heart surgery so I think that gives him a pass!

Seems a little extreme....although I reserve the right to change my mind on this one.:

Perhaps TMQ is a bit bitter over Parcells' "mercenary" approach. I guess we'll see.

Jimmy really "stuck it" to the Miami Hurricanes when he brought over Dave Wannstedt, Butch Davis and Dave Campo with him to the Cowboys. I wonder what they did to make him so angry?

This morning I was actually thinking..."I wonder if the Ravens are interviewing our coaches during the bye week because they're pissed that we took Evan Oglesby? I mean, he's probably ballin' out of control on the practice squad, and such..."

I really don't get the surprise from various outlets that people (in this case Parcells) tend to like to surround themselves with people they're familiar with. Makes transition easier. It's not malice - it's common sense.

That is obviously the case.

however if you think parcells is not an ego maniac your nuts.

I dont have any problem with what he is doing, especially since our team is close and the coaches are close, so why wouldnt they want to work together, especially when they are going to be working for sporano and ireland.

I would never risk my nuts. He's obviously an egomaniac. But he's also clearly a pretty awesome boss.

no doubt. The proof is in the pudding.

Seeing that alot of people base their opinions of him off local media guys like newy scruggs, jjt, dale hansen and randy galloway. Its no wonder the locals hate him here.

Scruggs never said one good word about him for years. He was actually on the radio having a fit when parcells was cleaning house in 04, including lacewell and some of the coaches who scruggs new.

Imagine that, he was upset about lacewell being tossed out. He was so worried along with the rest of the local hacks about these guys personal feelings that he forgot about the ultimate goal, winning.

anyway Like I said I love parcells, I am grateful he came through here. I wish he could have stayed here as gm and just continued on in some form.

When Parcells first signed with us, I didn't know if I liked it or not. I mean, I new Parcells would eventually get us on track and I figured he would eventually win but I also new that he would leave. If you have followed Parcells and his career, you know what to expect.

However, I've also alway believed that the reaction, the attention, the press that Parcells gets is a major part of the problem when he leaves. To me, the best thing to do is move on. He's gone and he's going to take people with him. That's a simple fact. While it's hard to ingnor the departures, it's also in our own best interest to treat them as things of little importance. Right now, this minute, we have an opportunity to win. If we can do that, then it's not going to matter who he takes. We will have excellent opportunity to back fill with very talented people. Coaches and front office people want to join winning clubs. They want to work for good owners. We just need to focus on what is in front of us. The rest will sort itself out if we take care of what we have to now IMO.

I understand what BP is doing and I don't blame him as I would do the same thing. That being said, it won't stop me for hating his insides. smile.

Is it the end of the world? No. It now depends upon what Jerry will do. There are plenty of outstanding scouts and talent evaluators and there are young coaches that are at this time merely not known but who will develop into great coaches. I suspect that both JJ and WP know some guys who can fit it and the team never lose a beat.

I don't like what is happening. I really want to keep Ireland and Sparano as well. However, I didn't know Sparano was as good of a coach as he is until this year and I began to hear the talk about him. There are some tremendous coaches out there I am sure, we just have not heard about them.

I would like to have Solari as our OL coach.

or he could just be doing what he's always done - staying with what he knows. when has he ever given a flying flip-toad what anyone says about him in the media?

never comes to mind.

dunno why it would start now.

Meant to comment on this somewhere, but forgot... I saw where a lot of Tampa's staff, including Bill Muir, had expiring contracts and likely wouldn't be brought back. Well, Muir is Parcells' old buddy from several stops, so I bet Bill will go after him. I'd thought Ireland would go after Solari from his KC days, but now maybe Solari would be available to us. (Houck would still be pretty good, though, IMO.)

marty schottenheimer supposedly has promised he would bring solari and cameron with him if he were to be hired in baltimore.

personally I dont know what baltimore is waiting for. They have one of the best personnel people in the league in ozzie newsome, couple that with marty and cam and they could win that divisions asap.
