This is by far the most logical and sensible off season that I can remember.

BUT is this an aberration or is this the modus operandi from now on?

We will not know that until next off season.

The next guys on this list might be Steele, Tyron, or Diggs for contract reasons. You move them before you have to.

Tyron is almost done. Draft an OT and extort a pick out a team for Tyron at the trade deadline.
They’re not about to trade Steele and Diggs. They’re both young cornerstone players. This is just more of some of you not wanting to pay anyone. You can just move on from every good player because they’re going to command a lot of money and hang onto lower priced players. That’s not a recipe for winning championships. Tyron is almost done so no one is going to trade for him.

Wether you spend most of your time criticizing the FO or defending them you have to welcome this offseason. I've agreed with what they've done because they had a plan to get money and filled needs with exp allowing them to draft smart instead of for need.

Cooks was a good safe move. He's not going to make waves, just do his job. The same with Gilmore, the best part of these trades were both share their knowledge with the young guys. We saw this last yr with Hankins, the DL interior improved.

I know some will still find something to complain about, even I have those thoughts. Like while Cooks is a nice add, I'd have liked Hopkins or Evans if either could've been had. I do think I'm happy with Cooks over OBJ tho. Get a feeling OBJ is gonna be a headache for somebody.

So whichever side of the fence youre on, seeing them with a plan on what they wanted to do and executing it early instead of dragging it out like they do every other offseason until this yr has to be a welcomed sight. They got it done and they've had this much more time to know what exactly they need and who they need to look at and focus on.

Even this whole Tackle situation, wether you agree with it or not. You have to like that they are set with what they're going to do and have simply LG to deal with. I'll say it now lock it in for a G at 26. And the way they draft OL especially in round 1 lock him in already at LG for the next decade.

And wether you don't agree with SJ saying they're basically good at DT with expected Hankins and Watkins. Again atleast they had a plan, this is the biggest dislike for me. Me personally ithink with what this DL did to the niners running game influenced this decision. Dallas basically shut it down, Dallas shut McCaffery down, but the bigger shut down for me was deebo. They held him to a 2.8 ypc.

So wether you agree with what they've done or not, the plan execution has been very good.
They seem to be executing their plan very well. They have been building this team for years and they very well could be on the verge of getting over the hump.

It’s a matter of simple math.

You can’t pay new contracts to:

Parsons
Diggs
Steele
Pollard
Cee Dee

And also pay:

Dak
Martin

You can pay some, but not all market value and still keep a legitimate team around them. It just can’t happen. Someone has to go.

Maybe they delay cap hits and go with a rookie QB. That might be a possibility. But short of that someone has to go.

None of us are salary cap experts, but we all know that a lot of massaging of the cap can be done. They’re not going to be able to pay everyone but if Steele and Diggs continue to perform, they’ll get paid. You can just plug in players at those positions and the Cowboys have found that out. I don’t believe Pollard will be here after next season. They may have to make a decision on CeeDee because we’ve all seen where WR money has gone.

Right. Decisions will have to be made.

I believe a great free agent period is one where you sign enough players so that you can walk into the draft and only care about Best Player Available. So they’re close. Would have liked them to pay up for at least one FA worth the money, like DT. Walk away with someone like Javon Hargrove and would feel pretty good about the team. Or shoot for the sky and grab Aaron Rodgers and let him own teams all 17 games in our stadium. Jets didn’t want to give up a #13 pick for him so it was do-able if the cap situation worked and didn’t cause a player revolt because they all seem tight with Dak.

You can pay them all. Tyron’s last year probably. DLaw as well. Restructure Dak. Etc.

No they don't. I'm sure Ronald Jones can get it done if they need him to
Finding an elite DT is almost like finding an elite QB. Every team wants one but there aren’t enough to go around
I have no doubt if a guy was there worth the 26th pick, they would take him. Some fans just want to draft a guy, any guy. But that’s a waste of resources

Very true…..but I’d settle for and above average DT if elite isn’t available……not a project DT in the 7th round.

As much as i hate to say it, Philly Eagles mave have set the tempo and approach for Stephen and Co.
That was twice they made superlative aggressive plans that help propelled them into the Super Bowl play ...while we're usually one and done mode.
And while we usually sit it out in the offseason.

The far cries says " do sumthin' ...try sumthin' " .. and usually Stephen plays it so safe and conservative.
This summer they went for it. Both in great trades and surprising re-signs (ala Donovan Wilson)

Add returns LVE and Hankins ..and even future HOFer Tyron Smith ... and tagging explosive fast Pollard and this offseason is a successful plus ..rather than
the usual Stephen do nuthin' offseason.

I’ve also been pleasantly surprised by the board. Zoners have given praise Where do. It hasn’t been a war when you come on here and I really do appreciate.
