Are the Cowboys as bad as they looked last night?

Is the defense really this overrated?

-I can see why Zimmer doesn't call the blitz much. It's so predictable...so sad.

-How many potential INT's can be dropped? Eli tried his best to give the game away, but Drew/Tony felt more like giving last night.

-Everyone's favorite DB, Terence Newman, sure looked lost out there last night. Correct me if I'm wrong Adam, but I believe every pass to his side had the potential of being completed had they not been dropped. I'll reserve my judgment because for all I know, Zimmer was calling for those cushions of the WR's after the deep passes.

What good happened last night?

-Even the all-universe punter sucked.

-I did feel that Romo provided a spark with the team and had some momentum going there in the second half. Those INT's came when Dallas had to throw to get back in the game. The first play of the 2nd half was one of those lucky, ducky tips at the line that always go against the Cowboys.

-The Owens drop on 4th and 2 really took the wind out of the sails and when that happened I knew the Cowboys were not supposed to win that game. One thing is for sure, Romo will make a point to give Owens all the chances he can to make plays. I don't feel Owens would make that kind of drop again.

In summary, it's really upsetting to see a team with so much talent play like they did last night. If this team plays to its potential (which it has yet to do), there's no team out there that can beat them. The Cowboys have beat themselves in all of their losses.

I have been saying in a number of threads I was uncertain about our OL. After last night, it's clear to me I was underestimating our problems.

I heard Aikman say this weekend, that in some games it just becomes necessary to get in a shootout with your opponent and score more points. We had no ability to do that with Bledsoe and ultimately it cost him his job, and Bledsoe is only partly to blame for that.

We were beaten in pretty much every phase of the game last night. We showed little character and looked poorly prepared. This morning the problems look pretty overwhelming. At some point, you have to look at the coaching. I think we are at that point.

The Giants didn't beat us ... we lost it ourselves.

We gave away 14 points on turnovers ... Drew Bledsoe cost us 7 and the first Romo INT cost us another 7. Get those back, and the game's in the bag.

Even still, we had our chances ... but Romo has to stop trying to be a gun slinger. He got away with a few passes but it caught him in the end. Those INT's killed us, as well as the TO 4th and 2 dropped pass.

All is not lost ... we have something to cheer for. At least a young QB gives us a bright spot for the future. I will root for his development and maturity as the season develops.

But what really surprises me is this mythical Parcells magic ... after 4 years, we're nothing more than 3-3 and team. I'm pretty sure Campo could have coached us to 3-3. I bet he would have beaten the Jaguars in game one as well.

The OL is the biggest disappointment. But what did we expect? We've been trying to plug the holes for the past 10 years.

QB is still the most important position on the field ... why did we ignore it for 4 years? We drafted a LB who can't get on the field ... when QB is a glaring issue. I just don't get it.

I'm at a lose. But I'll get over it.

I really love how the people with agenda's keep ignoring everything else. It was the D that was supposed to be good that really fell down on the job.
Yeah, the O stank- but that was not totally unexpected. This D was built to stop the run and could not even do THAT.

This is so true, our blitz package does not surprise anyone.....they just all line up and come........what the heck are we thinking?

The thing about or OL that bothers me most is that going into the game, everyone in the entire world knew that the Giants would be blitzing like crazy, yet the Cowboys seemed unprepared for it. At least twice, players got through the line untouched. To me that is more coaching than the lack of talent.

I like our DB's / safeties talentwise, but their technique is just plain horrible. Again, Coaching?

Why does our DL pressure come and go? No consistancy at all.

To me, this was a very winnable game, and mistakes on both sides of the ball killed us.

I think that was the most frustrating part of the game last night. We all know how much the OL struggles versus the blitz and how Bledsoe plays against quality teams, but the staple of the team is supposed to be the defense.

I'm not quite sure why the Giants didn't throw the deep ball more often than they did. However, watching Brandon Jacobs carry the entire defense into the endzone was a tad frustrating as well.
