Frustration Mock

I disagree. I think that guards that fall into the second round have some sort of weakness, but many things that they excel at. For example, they may have all the footwork, be able to pull, get to the second level, run and pass block, but may be weak at the point of attack. Watching DeCastro, I saw no weaknesses. The kid can do it all. That's why he is rated so highly.

our own Larry Allen was taken in the 2nd and there are countless examples of others who were taken later and done well .... I can't think of any first round guard that was taken that was any better in the long run than some that were taken later in the same draft.

Larry Allen was also drafted out of Sonoma State (a Division II school that no longer has a football team). Had he played in today's age of the internet and social media, he would have been more well known and most likely would have been a first round pick.

Two years ago Mike Iupati and Maurkice Pouncey were drafted back to back (17th and 18th overall) by the 49ers and Steelers. Pouncey has been a 2-time Pro Bowler, while Iupati was a writers' association all-rookie selection who nearly made the pro bowl this year. Many people want us to look in to signing Ben Grubbs of the Ravens, who was also a first round pick.

Any draft that does not include a pass rusher is a fail. The problem with this team is not offense. Yes, we need to improve the interior OL....but not as much as the pressure from the front seven.

Outside of Ware, we have no threat of getting to the QB. Our top FA acquistion needs to be Calius Campbell. Our 1st round pick should be Ingram from South Carolina.

Take the guard from Georgia in the 2nd. He can start day one. I think Killer makes a huge gain this off-season and takes over center.

This is a weak year for pass rushers . Drafting one would be great if the pick is not a reach .

Exactly right.

Most of the "favorite" 3-4 OLBers are "Spencer-like".

In other words they look like 6-7 sacks a year type of players.

I think the greatest potential for increased pass rush is focusing on the defensive line.

Here are some numbers to consider:

Coleman 1 sack
Spears 1 sack
Ratliff 2 sacks

If the defensive line could increase their pressure then you would see more sacks for Ware and Spencer.

You can say that about any position . UDFA is a good option at QB and WR if you use Romo and Miles as examples .

the chances of LA happening again as it did are minute. In this day of the internet and everything else no one can hide like that again.

Last year or the year before; I guess last year- Jared Velheer that the Raiders got out of a real hole in the wall school. Looks like he will make a good LT. If LA was playing today he would have been a top 15 pick.

Again imho it is not that those players aren´t any good ...it is that to me they aren't that much better than what you can get in a lower round... however the drop off of a mercilus to the next guy is indeed a huge drop off. I hope that better explains it.

bottom line is if DeCastro is there to take, you need to draft him.. If he is picked before, go for the best defensive player available

We def need more sacks and pressure but I'd be willing to bet our DE sacks stack up favorably vs other 34 teams.

Just for grins...

For the Commanders:

Stephen Bowen 6 sacks
Adam Carriker 5.5 sacks

For the Texans:

JJ Watt 5.5 sacks
Antonio Smith 6.5 sacks

The common thought that 3-4 DE don't get any sacks is nonsense. They don't get any sacks if they don't have any talent rushing the passer.

You replace Coleman with a guy who can get 5 sacks a season (plus a comparable increase in QB pressures) and you'll have a much better pass rush all the way around.

Like it, but no way in hell Broyles is available in 6, even with that injury.

Houston had 2 more sacks than us and Skins had 1 less as a team overall. Don't forget what Hatcher and Lissemore had.

That's true. But I would guess the Washington/Houston subs picked up a sack here & there also.

But regardless, the sack numbers for Coleman, who's a starter is pretty low.

Coleman is awful. That's a Parcells move. Bring in scrub who use to play for you. He has no business starting. There is no way he is better than Spears or Lissemore.
